Choose your adventure: Choose Life through Jesus Christ or Choose Death in Sin!
Jesus Christ is the only real God. He became a human being and then sacrificed Himself for our salvation, to pay our sin debt (Romans 6:23) we could never pay. No other deity did that! No other deity could create the universe out of nothing but by using His voice. Because of His love for us (John 3:16), He died on the cross (Romans 5:8), He was buried and rose from the dead three days later—defeating death, Satan and Hell. If you accept His free gift of salvation, you will spend eternity in Heaven with Him (Romans 8:1, 10:9) and all believers. If you refuse Him, you will spend eternity in Hell and separated from the only God who loves you enough to die for you!
My story out of the occult:
While divining (casting lots, reading cards, and consulting with spirits) for answers from spirits, “deities,” and demons, the answers I was receiving did not make any sense. I wondered, if these beings are of higher intelligence than humans, why would they need explanations of ordinary things?
It suddenly became crystal clear to me that these beings were LYING! It was like the world fell out from under me and a vacuum sucked the air out of my entire torso. It felt like the cosmos was falling away, kind of like the “Stargate” scene when they go through the wormhole. It felt like absolute Hell, the total absence of God. I wondered if this was a taste of Hell. The emptiness I felt lasted months and months, nearly a year and a half. How could I trust again or believe anything again?
I became a Christian when I was 3 years old at Vacation Bible School hosted at my home. I was a strong believer for many years, decades even, until I got pregnant at the age of 23. I was afraid of the responsibilities of taking on a baby and being an insulin dependent type 1 diabetic. I was afraid I’d get kicked out of my parent’s house, and without a job, how would I manage? The baby’s father didn’t want to give it up for adoption and I was afraid of him, too. I felt trapped and thought I didn’t have a choice. So, at 24 I got an abortion—I murdered my baby. That led to a downward spiral of drugs, alcohol, sexual immorality, and the occult that lasted for 27 years. I hated myself and eventually I hated everything. I ran as far away from God and Jesus Christ as I could get.
It all started out seeming so innocent—New Age and white light, crystals and herbs, indigenous spiritualities. I was all about peace, love, and granola.
Eventually I was drawn into witchcraft. I went full steam ahead into it, gathering degrees from various traditions, as well as founding and leading various groups. It was during this time that I met my partner and moved across the country to be with him and start a temple to our shared deity.
It was six weeks after I had moved out to the East Coast from the West Coast, which I had done on faith, albeit false faith in a false deity. I was settling into my new life, unpacking and awaiting the rest of my belongings to be shipped out, which were en route when I fell into The Abyss. I went over the cliff, headfirst into the depths. It was terrifying! I was shaken to my core. Do I stay or do I go back to my old home? I chose to stay in my new home state.
It took me a year and a half to recover enough to realize that Jesus Christ is the only God who is real, and He has never let me down. I realized that He never did leave me. Even when I walked in darkness, He was there, protecting me and keeping me safe. So, I repented and asked Him back into my heart and my life. While I still recover from those injuries to my heart, spirit, and soul, it is sometimes still hard to trust completely. I don’t want to be hurt again—I can’t imagine surviving the feeling of that vacuum again. I believe that vacuum was just a small taste of what Hell will be like; the total absence of God, while knowing that a simple choice would have made all the difference for all eternity.
I feel like a small child on God’s lap, fighting sleep, fighting full surrender, and at the same time knowing that in Him I truly am safe, I am loved, and He is completely trustworthy. I am still healing from all of this, and I know He is with me throughout the process (Deuteronomy 31:8).
My question to you, dear reader, is …
Why wait to accept the free gift of Salvation?
Why wait to return to the uncreated God who made the entire universe and Earth and all the life herein? Why wait to accept the Love of Him (1 John 4:9-10) who became flesh and paid the ultimate price for your sins? He rose again on the third day, conquering Death and Hell forever!
The uncreated God who created everything out of nothing by using His own voice—He knew you from before He set the stars and planets in their orbits, and made seasons and celestial bodies to mark them. He wants to have a personal relationship with you. He loves you enough that He became a human being, He grew up and went through all the ups and downs of childhood and became an adult and faced all of the trials and temptations of adulthood. Jesus Christ knows what it is to be a human being and what we go through; but He is also God (John 10:30) and He was able to overcome all those things.
He lived a sinless life and sacrificed Himself for you to pay your sin debt—the debt that you could in no way ever pay because the wages of sin is death. He died for you, in place of you, and rose again on the third day. He is the only way for you to get to God and join Him in eternity one day. He did all of this out of His Love for you.
He doesn’t promise that our lives will be easy or always happy, but He does promise to walk through this life with you. He will never leave you; He will never forsake you. Trust in Him, trust your future with Him—He is a good Father. He will be by your side if you accept Him into your heart and your life. Repent from your sins, turn away from them and give your life to Jesus Christ.
Yes! He loves you just as you are, and He wants to have a personal relationship with you. He will guide and comfort you. Through Him, He will give you a new life and you will be a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Sincerely pray to the Lord Jesus Christ and invite Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior. Ask His forgiveness of your sins and repent of them (which means to turn away from them). Thank Him and say Amen. Jesus Christ is with you now and forever! The Holy Spirit lives inside you, and He will be your constant Guide, Comforter and Companion. Listen to Him and obey His commands.
