There are many religions but only three—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—have a personal yet transcendent, all-powerful God. In their case, God would be able and desire to communicate with his followers.
Only Christianity claims that Jesus is the Son of God and became fully man while remaining the Second Person of the Trinity. The New Testament of the Christian Bible was recorded by his eyewitness followers. They testified of his miracles, death and resurrection. Facing persecution, imprisonment and execution, they refused to recant or lie about what they saw and knew.
All religions can be wrong, but they can’t all be right, since they contradict each other.
The idea that Christians are narrow-minded or that the Bible is intolerant is false. Freedom to believe what we want doesn’t give us freedom from consequences. World views matter.
In his book “A Universe from Nothing” (2013), Dr. L. Krause, a theoretical physicist, in a Q&A response said that scientists:
“Can give up believing in anything we once believed in, if nature suggests otherwise.”
However nature seems to indicate creation by design, and he is against that. When asked if he is an atheist:
“Not in the sense that I can claim definitively that there is no God or purpose to the universe … but what I can claim definitely is that I wouldn’t want to live in a universe with a God; that makes me an anti-theist, as my friend Christopher Hitchens was.”
Consider the Christian Bible scriptures below:
Importance of the Bible Scriptures:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
James 1:22 “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
The Trinity of God: three equal persons but one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:26 a “Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’”
Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
What God requires of you:
No one is good enough to go to Heaven. Sin is the fallen state of humanity since our ancestors Adam and Eve disbelieved God. Trust by faith that Christ was sent to die for your sins and that his resurrection is proof of that full payment for your sins.
John 3:18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
1 John 1:8-9 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 Corinthians 15:21-22 “For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.’”
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Romans 10:9-10 “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
How to know you’re going to Heaven:
Surrender your life to Christ by following Him.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Turning from sin:
When you come to the conviction that you have sinned against God and ask him to forgive and cleanse you from your sins, he will do so. Your faith is in the power and right of Christ to do it. The Holy Spirit then lives within you, seals your salvation, and starts the sanctification of your life to make you more like Christ as you submit to Him.
1 Corinthians 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Matthew 16:24-26 “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Next steps are vital:
Personal salvation isn’t private salvation. Christians are all part of the body of Christ and need each other in a Bible teaching church. Believers Baptism and active membership in a church protects us from discouragement by providing friendship with like-minded people. We worship and learn together while the Holy Spirit shows us our unique gifts to serve others.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Read your Bible every day, starting with the Book of John. Continue talking in prayer and confession of struggles to God as your best friend. Ask him to guide you and do what His word says to do.
