Why Must You Hear the Good News?

Look around. The world is broken under the crushing weight of human sin. Violence is not confined to isolated neighborhoods—it erupts across the world. From crowded cities to remote towns, injustice crushes the weak. Confusion darkens every horizon. Division deepens between nations, families, and even individuals. Hatred, greed, and pride are not just out there—they dwell in every human heart.

This is not random chaos or merely a social or political crisis. It is the evidence of a deeper, spiritual problem. The Bible tells us that this is the fruit of a fallen humanity. We are not merely surrounded by sin—we are saturated with it. As Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”

You see, sin is not only a moral failure. It is rebellion against the holy God who made us—a God who is perfectly pure, righteous, and cannot overlook sin (Habakkuk 1:13). His holiness demands justice. Sin separates us from Him, and the consequence is death—not just physical death, but spiritual and eternal separation. Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death.” God’s wrath is not only revealed through judgment but also by giving people over to their depravity and dishonor (Romans 1). We see this playing out in real time in our lives and in our world.

But here is the good news:

God did not leave us in our guilt. Though He had every right to condemn, He chose to act in mercy. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ—fully God and fully man. Jesus lived the perfect, sinless life we failed to live and then died the death we rightly deserve. On the cross, He took our place, bearing God’s wrath, so that we might be reconciled to Him.

Isaiah 53:6 says, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” This is the great exchange described in 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Jesus was judged in our place. And after dying, He did not remain in the grave. On the third day, He rose again. His resurrection proves that the sacrifice was accepted, the debt is paid, and eternal life is offered to all who believe. As 1 Corinthians 15:4 says, “He was buried, and He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.”

So how should you respond?

God does not ask you to clean yourself up before coming to Him. He commands you to repent and believe. To repent is to turn from your sin—confessing it and forsaking it. To believe is to trust in Jesus Christ alone—His life, death, and resurrection as your only hope.

Acts 3:19 says, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out” (NIV). Jesus Himself invites you, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). And He promises, “Whoever comes to Me I will never cast out” (John 6:37).

No sin is too great. No past is too dark. If you come to Christ in repentance and faith, He will forgive you, cleanse you, and give you eternal life.

Don’t delay. Don’t ignore the seriousness of your sin or the urgency of your need. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” The world is broken. Your heart is broken. But Christ is mighty to save.

Turn to Him today. Repent and believe—and live.
