I Rode On Eagle’s Wings!
The illustration on the front of this tract is a picture of a chalk drawing that I created to present the truth of Isaiah 40:28-31: “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Waiting on God has been a difficult lesson for me to learn. At the age of 15 I was bedridden for 6 weeks with a kidney disease. At age 16 my mother passed away. At 17 I endured Rheumatic fever. These trials left me physically weak for years and I was impatient with God over these setbacks. However, it was during this time that I learned to draw and later graduated from college to teach high school art. Shortly after that God directed me to Bible college and into pastoral ministry. There were times, even in my ministry that I wanted to solve problems on my own. God taught me through difficulties greater than my ability to wait and trust in Him.
The meaning of wait speaks of a confident hope for a future victory. With sure expectation the believer patiently endures until God accomplishes His plan and purpose.
WAITING ON GOD
WHEN there seems to be a DELAY
God’s timing is perfect. Our timetable may not match His. If He makes us wait, He has a better plan and purpose. In John 11 we read of Mary and Martha’s impatience with Jesus. Jesus had delayed healing their brother Lazarus’ sickness so that He could raise him from the dead.
Psalm 62:5 says: “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
WAITING ON GOD
WHEN the way seems DARK
There are times when each of us walks through valleys of darkness. The sun may be hidden by clouds for a time. We must wait and trust in God.
The light will return. Isaiah 50:10 says: “Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.”
WAITING ON GOD
WHEN the situation seems DREADFUL
Threatening circumstances bring fear and uneasiness. We must remember that Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5,6).
Psalm 27:5: “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock.”
Psalm 23:4: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
WAITING ON GOD
WHEN our strength seems DEFICIENT
God gives power to the weak and weary. Every child of God needs to learn to wait upon the Lord. He has promised to renew our strength. We then can mount up with wings as eagles (Isaiah 40:31).
ASK GOD FOR HIS HELP
Dear Lord Jesus, I am weak but You are strong. I choose to trust Your love, grace, and power. I will wait for Your leading and will humble myself in submission to Your eternal purpose for my life. Forgive me for my impatience and lack of faith. Forgive me for my anxiety and worry. Amen
