Heaven is a holy place because God is there! The Bible teaches that God is holy. “No one is holy like the Lord.” (1 Samuel 2:2)
It is a place we all want to go. But because God is HOLY we can’t get there on our own goodness. God is perfect. We are imperfect and cannot enter into His presence.
God Is Holy
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
When we do wrong things, God calls that sin. Sin brings death. According to the Bible, death means separation. Because God is holy, our sin separates us from Him and we are helpless to do anything about it.
“The wages of sin is death”
Death is what our sin earns for us–eternal separation from God.
All Have Sinned
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
God loves you and has provided the only way to heaven.
Jesus (fully God and fully human) “Died for our sins… was buried, and… rose again the third day according to the Scriptures”, proving He has the power over sin and death. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
Jesus Died In Your Place
You must be perfect to enter heaven. God credits Jesus’ perfect righteousness to the sinner who trusts in Him, “The righteousness which is from God by faith [in Jesus].” (Philippians 3:9)
Each person must respond by faith to what Jesus did on the cross. “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12)
Trust Jesus To Save You
“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18)
By faith in Jesus you now have spiritual life. (1 John 5:11)
Living things should grow. God has given us the Bible to teach us how to grow spiritually. God also wants us to seek Him in prayer and to fellowship with other Christians. He wants us to “Serve the Lord with gladness.” (Psalm 100:2)
Live For Jesus Out Of Gratitude
Have you received Jesus Christ as Savior?
Do you understand the following?
- Jesus is God.
- You are not perfect. God is perfect. He is holy.
- Your goodness or religious efforts can’t save you.
- You are a helpless sinner, separated from God, unable to save yourself.
- Jesus died for your sins, taking the punishment that you deserve.
- His death paid for all sins (past, present, and future).
- Jesus rose from the dead on the third day.
- Jesus is the only One that can save you from eternal death and give you everlasting life.
- Faith in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross is the only way to heaven.
If you understand and believe these statements are true of you and of God then the Bible gives you 100% assurance that you will live with Jesus forever in heaven; that you are totally forgiven; and that you are restored to a relationship with God. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life.” John 6:47
