We don’t know when we will take our last breath. A tragic car accident, a mass shooting, or other terrible event may happen without warning. Please consider what happens to you after you die. There are many opinions about what happens after this life, but let us look at what God tells us in the Bible, His word to us.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
In order to get to Heaven we must do it God’s way, not man’s way. God sent His Son (Jesus) to die for us. The Bible tells us there is only one way to Heaven.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6
Because of our sin, we cannot enter into Heaven on our own.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Once again God tells us Jesus, His Son, is the only way to Heaven. Not any church, not baptism, not your good works—or any other thing that man chooses to believe will satisfy God.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved … For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9, 13
Now if some terrible tragedy should happen to you or you would die from natural causes, where would you spend eternity? You are only one heartbeat away from spending eternity in either Heaven or Hell.
Jesus made it possible for you to go to Heaven and to not have to suffer the torments of Hell, but you have to repent (acknowledge that you are going the wrong way) and receive this gift of God (by putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save you).
Please pray and sincerely ask Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and ask Him to come into your heart and to save you so that you can have eternal life in Heaven. Then ask Him to help you live for Him each day.
