Do you have faith? Many people believe that the concept of faith only applies to religion, and is somehow opposed to science. But when you dig a little deeper, you may just find that your beliefs—whatever they are—are based in faith.

Faith and science are not necessarily opposed. The science of observing how things work and creating new technologies (like smartphones and medicines, for example) has nothing at all to do with faith. But when we try to explain how life originated, and the source of its immense complexity, we enter another type of discussion. The way things are doesn’t necessarily explain how they began, and ultimately every theory of the origin of life requires a measure of faith.

We can study how our ears work, or our eyes, or brain, but the more we know about these remarkable and complex systems, the more unlikely it is that they simply came to be by random processes. It has been said that putting your faith in evolution is like believing a tornado could create a 747 out of a junkyard of parts. Do you believe a book can create itself? The information in our DNA is the book of life. Any book ever created needed a creator, an author. And so do we.  What are you going to put your faith in?

The God who created you loves you very deeply. He has given us evidence of His power and glory in the things we can observe in the universe, and He has given us a conscience to discern between right and wrong. He has also given us a revelation about who He is—and what He wants—in the Bible. Even more than this, He demonstrated His love for us when He visited us in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus opened the door to a new life when He died on the cross, bearing our sins, and rose again. He willingly laid down His perfect life as a sacrifice, allowing God’s judgment to fall upon Him. When we trust in what He has done, a tranformation takes place: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36).

Are you ready to put your faith in the God who loves you and offers you forgiveness, new life, and an eternal relationship with Himself? “

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved … everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:9-13).

  • In your own way, admit to Jesus, the Son of God, that you are a sinner and that you are ready to turn from your way to God’s way.
  • Thank Him for dying for your sins, and put your total trust in what He has done for you.
  • Believe God’s word that He will save all who call upon Him.

If you have done these things, then according to His promise, (Revelation 3:20), He is in your heart and you are saved. He cannot lie. Are you unsure? Are you bothered because you cannot understand it all? Or you don’t feel like you have enough faith? Don’t let that stop you. If you truly desire to trust and follow Jesus, a simple trust in Him unlocks His boundless power and changes your eternal destiny.

Ask Him every day to fill you with his Holy Spirit and guide your life. Pray to Him. Ask Him for answers. Ask Him to fill you with his love and to help you love others as He loves you. Read his words (we suggest starting with the book of John). Ask Him to help you understand the Bible as you read it. Share his word and his love with others so they may also have eternal life with you in heaven.
