For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Why did God send His Son?
Because of sin. What is sin? Envy? Lying? Stealing? Lust? Hatred? Profanity? Idolatry? Etc? YES! You and I have broken at least one of the ten commandments (Exodus 20:2-17, Deuteronomy 5:6-21), which makes us all sinners.
I am a sinner. Condemned to die—but God sent His Son as a willing sacrifice for me, to die in my place, enduring the pain and agony of the cross.
Jesus paid our sin debt by shedding His blood and atoning for the sins of the world.
For [God] hath made Him [Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21
It was our sins and His love that held Him to the cross.
Jesus was buried and rose again, fulfilling prophecy.
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Do you believe?
Anyone who believes in Christ Jesus and has faith from the heart in the blood sacrifice on the cross will be eternally saved in that moment.
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of
your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 1:13
It isn’t about what I do for salvation—it’s about what Christ did.
I used to be religious, but it’s not about organized religion or a denomination. Jesus didn’t come to start a religion. He came to restore a broken love relationship—one heart at a time. I am, because of these truths, led to put my trust in Him, and Him alone.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus … In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Romans 3:23-26, Ephesians 1:7
