1st Shot

As outdoorsmen, we get to enjoy the sights and sounds of God’s great outdoors more than most people. There is nothing more exciting than getting the opportunity to take that trophy buck or land that record catch. There is also nothing more disappointing than “ALMOST” getting it.

“Then Agrippa said to Paul, ‘You almost persuade me to become a Christian’”
(Acts 26:28).

2nd Shot

Just like outdoorsmen have all missed that shot or lost that catch, we have all missed the mark of being good enough for Heaven. No matter how hard we try, missing is missing.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

When we come short on our “shot” here, we look forward to next time. Friend, you may not have a next time to get right with God.

“It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

3rd Shot

When we miss our mark here, our pride may get hurt. But when we miss the mark for Heaven, there is a greater price to pay.

“Death and Hades [hell] were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death”
(Revelation 20:14).

Hell is as real as the great outdoors. Jesus does not want us to go there.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).

4th Shot

Can you imagine your buddy paying a fine for you? Jesus has paid the penalty of our sin for us!

“Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

Jesus tells us we can be forgiven and have a home in Heaven by telling Him you are sorry for sinning against Him and asking Him to forgive you and be your Lord and Savior.

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Fellow outdoorsman, ask Him today. Don’t be “ALMOST” persuaded.

5th Shot

If you have asked Jesus to forgive you and be your Lord and Savior, here are some ways to grow in your relationship with Him:

Find a good, Bible-believing church, be baptized, join in fellowship with other believers, read your Bible, pray every day, and tell everyone how you don’t have to worry about “ALMOST” going to Heaven.

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
