It is appropriate to give a big thank you to our good friend, the truck driver.
They spend many hours and drive thousands of miles to keep our economy moving. They do it with great sacrifice. They are separated from family and friends. They miss their wives, children, and families and also battle loneliness daily. Some are even battling substance abuse and the guilt from past decisions.
But there is hope for our hero, the truck driver, and his name is Jesus Christ. Jesus experienced loneliness on the cross, when even his father forsook him. He knows the pain of broken relationships and experienced the ultimate physical pain. He is the best friend of the trucker. He died so you can live. After his death and burial, he arose from the grave to free everyone from the great enemy of sin and death. Today you can trust him. Thank the Lord that we can all be saved through the blood of Christ.
I pray that you’re ready for the “long haul” of eternity with eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
What I’m talking about is a real relationship with the living God. Not a religion or philosophy.
You can have this relationship by admitting your sinful condition. Romans 3:23 reminds us that we are all in the same truck—we are all sinners. The scales have revealed the load of our sin and its wages (Romans 6:23), but the Bible tells us we can make a u-turn from our sin to the living Lord Jesus Christ.
He has paid our penalty by taking our sin upon himself on the cross, and dying so that we can be free. He then defeated death once and for all by being raised from the dead. Yielding to Christ means we also receive eternal life. We
know that whoever has Jesus has life (1 John 5:12).
If you invite Jesus into your life as your Savior (Romans 10:9-10), it is now in your logbook, and you will want to share it and tell others. Then, with Christ in your life, you will be a new person. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that the old things like sin, anger, and resentment have been washed away and you are totally new.
As a new believer in Christ, you can grow in your faith through prayer, reading your Bible and fellowshipping with other believers. Find a church and share your new faith. You are ready for the “long haul” of eternity!
The ABC’s of Salvation
A. Admit your own sinful condition (Romans 3:23).
B. Believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins (Acts 16:31).
C. Confess him as your savior and turn to him today (Romans 10:13).
