God’s Standard

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).

The 10 Commandments

You shall have no other gods before Me.

You shall not make for yourself an idol … You shall not worship or serve them.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness (lie).

You shall not covet.

What is sin?

We sin each time we break God’s moral law, His Commandments.

There is none righteous, no, not one… for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:10,23).

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20).

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all (James 2:10).

Sin’s Penalty

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment (Hebrews 9:27).

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty (Exodus 34:7).

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

Each of us will die some day, but this verse is talking about spiritual death, or eternal separation from God in a place called Hell. That penalty is what each of us has earned (our wages) because of our sins.

No amount of good works, church attendance, money, or sacrifices can ever make up for, or take away, the sins we have committed.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire … shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:15,10)

God’s Love

The Lord is … not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

But God commendeth His love
toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (1 Peter 2:24).

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit (1 Peter 3:18).

For He hath made Him[Jesus] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus was punished in your place!

Your Response

Repent:

God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent (Acts 17:30). To repent is to change your mind to agree with God’s assessment of your sin and the judgment it deserves.

The Lord Jesus said to His disciples that repentance and forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations (Luke 24:47). Will you now repent and receive forgiveness?

Receive:

But as many as received Him [Jesus Christ], to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name (John 1:12).

God wants you to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as the payment for your sin. When you accept this gift, you will become a child of God.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9).

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36)

You can know for sure where you will spend eternity!

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(1 John 5:13).

For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16).
