“Yes!” is the obvious answer. But unfortunately many have drowned due to the lack of a life jacket, or insufficient warning about hazardous swimming conditions.

You are absolutely in grave danger, and I would like to tell you of a desperately-needed life preserver. You ask why? Well, it’s important to understand that upon the first male (Adam) and female (Eve) created by God were given a simple instruction—which they disobeyed.

God placed them in a beautiful, lush garden to maintain and enjoy and indulge on every type of fruit—except one.

“And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Genesis 2:15

If you are thinking what I’m thinking, Adam and Eve had it made in their all-you-can-eat buffet. But see—just like every human that has ever walked or will walk the earth—they were not satisfied and took advantage of the kindness and generosity of God.

“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” Proverbs 27:20

Have you ever heard the misleading statement,  “Just trust your heart?” Well, I want to warn you to never do this. You ask why? God replies:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

Therefore we should listen to God, the Creator of the universe and all things that dwell therein. When we listen to our heart—like Adam and Eve—we end up in trouble.

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:16-17

Unfortunately Adam and Eve would go on to disobey God!

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Genesis 3:6

This single act of disobedience represents the defiance of all humanity (including you and me) toward the God of the universe. This is what the Bible calls sin, and the consequence of sin is separation from God. This means a life on earth without the guidance and close presence of God, and an afterlife spent in Hell for an eternity.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Unfortunately, regardless of your contributions to society—whether it’s charity or volunteer work—your rebellious heart makes you an enemy of God. Your supposed good works are filthy rags when compared to the holiness of God, and the price of sin must still be paid.

“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…” Isaiah 64:6a

“The wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a

Well, now I trust you understand you’re in big trouble and judgment is coming.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

I have Good News!! God knew you would fall short, and has provided the way for your debt of sin to be paid. God sent His only Son—who existed before time or all creation—to take on the form of a human body. About 2000 years ago, Jesus was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life, manifesting His glory and deity through His teaching and miracles.

He then willingly laid down His life, suffering the punishment of sin in our place. He poured out His precious blood on a cross, died, and was buried. He rose on the third day, proving that sin’s debt has been paid, and now offers you the opportunity to be restored to a relationship with your Creator.

All who put their whole-hearted trust in His finished work on the Cross are forgiven of all their sin, and will spend eternity in Heaven praising Him! Do you believe?

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

“And they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Don’t delay, for this is important and time is absolutely not in your favor! Life is but a vapor—here today and gone tomorrow! Trust Christ today.
