Do you know how important women are?

Women are very important in this world. What would we do without women? There would be no mothers, grandmothers, aunts or sisters. There would be no children. What a bleak and barren world that would be! God, in His great wisdom, created women. We can read the whole story in the Bible, in the book of Genesis.

God created both men and women, male and female. He created them equal. He created them differently. Men and women are not the same. We know this by the obvious differences; our bodies are made differently and women’s bodies have different functions than those of men. We think differently. Research says that, in general, men think objectively, but women think subjectively. This means that men mostly think using facts only. Women think using not only facts, but also emotions. Neither way of thinking is wrong. It is just different. Our way of thinking complements each other. What a cold world it would be if we all only thought and made decisions by using facts. What an unstable place we would be in if we all only thought using our emotions. We need both to make good decisions. We should celebrate that we are women. This is how God made us. Men who try to act like women and women who try to act like men, always seem unhappy and unfulfilled. A man cannot be a mother and a woman cannot be a father. We are created equal, but with differences. Women are not inferior to men.

God made us and He also gave us His Book, the Bible, to tell us how to live. The Bible is full of stories about people just like us. A lot of women are mentioned and many are highly praised for what they did and how they acted. Some are not praised, but are condemned because they did evil things. The Bible is a very truthful book and tells us exactly the way things happened years ago. It is also full of helpful advice for us, especially regarding relationships with others. But the most important information in the Bible tells us how we can have a relationship with God. We know very well that if we want to ask for help from a chief, we are not allowed to just walk into his palace and start asking for what we want. There are protocols set up that we must follow. We cannot just decide to enter in whatever way looks good and easy to us. We need someone to take us to the chief, someone who is related to him. It is the same with God. We cannot approach Him in whatever way we think is all right. Just as when we visit a chief we need to follow his rules, so when we want to come to God we have to follow His way. People will tell us that there are many ways to approach God. But that does not make sense. If we want to visit a chief, we find out what his protocol is and we obey. God has written everything in the Bible that we need to know in order to approach Him. We should not listen to the ideas of people, because they will lead us astray.

As a woman, how can I have a fulfilled life? Well, Satan has been busy since the beginning of the human race, trying to deceive us and to destroy the plans that God has for us. If we follow the lies of the devil, (he is called the father of lies in John 8:44), then we are allowing him to mislead us. Romans 3:23 tell us that ALL have sinned, and that includes both men and women. Our sin has separated us from God and because He cannot tolerate sin, we have no hope of gaining favour with Him by our own works and deeds. So are we to remain in this hopeless state? Because if God is angry with our sins, how can we come close to Him? How can we be reconciled to Him? How can we be made suitable to enter God’s heaven when we die? The good news is that God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, came to earth to take our punishment, the punishment that each of us deserves, for our sins. But how did He do that? Romans 6:23 says that “the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” That sounds wonderful to me. Eternal (never-ending) life instead of death. Hope instead of hopelessness. Light instead of darkness. Peace instead of fear. Declared innocent instead of being charged as guilty.

So how do I get this eternal life? The Bible says it is a gift. Do I pay for a gift? Do I work for a gift? No, it is given freely to me. It is free for all people everywhere. It is for educated and illiterate people. It is for the rich and the poor. It is for those who are healthy and those who are sick. It does not discriminate between women and men, or look at the colour of our skin. It is a universal gift. Remember every gift costs the one who gives it. The gift of eternal life cost the Lord Jesus Christ sufferings that we cannot imagine and a terrible, painful and cruel death on the cross. Why would the Son of God do that for us? Because of love. He did not want us to have to suffer for our sins forever and ever, but He wants us to be forgiven of our sins, to enter heaven and to be with Him forever. That is why it is called the Good News. There is absolutely nothing bad about it. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God does not want anyone to perish and go to hell, but He wants everyone to repent and to be with Him forever.

How do I receive a gift? Do I look at it and say, oh yes that looks like something very nice? But if I leave it in the hands of the giver, have I accepted it? Is it mine? No, I need to accept the gift, take it as my very own. But how do I know I will have eternal life if I accept the gift of God? Because God says so in His Word, the Bible. John 5:24 tells us that when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have passed from death into life. What a great thing this is, to know that God loves me, Jesus died for me, and I have life that will never ever end.

Each of us needs to make a choice. We either accept or reject God’s gift. Someone has said that we are free to make choices, but we are not free to choose the consequences of our choices. If I reject this gift, I will be separated from God forever, and will be tormented in hell. If I accept this gift, I will be forever with the Lord, in a place of indescribable joy and beauty and happiness.

Thank God for making you a woman and giving you the chance to have a life on this earth to honour and glorify Him.

The choice is yours today. What will it be?
