A recent survey found 65% of U.S. adults believe there is intelligent alien life on planets other than earth.
The Vatican may be preparing the world for an extraterrestrial encounter and says should they visit Earth, they would be welcome to be baptized as well. The Pope expounded on this in his weekly radio address in May 2014.
New Age channelers, like Thelma Terrell, Kay Wheeler, and Barbara Marciniak (and others) claim to regularly communicate with “aliens” by emptying their minds and allowing the aliens to take over their vocal cords. These “aliens” speak through them and prophesy of a mass one-time disappearance of people around the globe.
“Our rescue ships will be able to come in close enough in the twinkling of an eye to set the lifting beams in operation in a moment. And all over the globe where events warrant it, this will be the method of evacuation. Mankind will be lifted, levitated shall we say, by the beams from our smaller ships. These smaller craft will in turn taxi the persons to the larger ships overhead, higher in the atmosphere, where there is ample space and quarters and supplies for millions of people.” -Thelma Terrell
“The people who leave the planet during the time of Earth changes do not fit in here any longer, and they are stopping the harmony of Earth. When the time comes that perhaps 20 million people leave the planet at one time there will be a tremendous shift in consciousness for those who are remaining.” -Barbara Marciniak, “Bringers of the Dawn”
The Bible speaks clearly of angels and fallen angels (demons), but not aliens. Angels refuse to be worshipped (Revelation 22:8-9). Satan tries to get Jesus to worship Him and Jesus says, “You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only” (Colossians 2:18; Luke 4:7-8). The Bible warns us “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14; Galatians 1:8). He is described as the “deceiver of the whole world” (Revelation 12:9), he’s a “murderer...and the father of lies” (John 8:44), who “comes only to steal and kill and destroy” (John 10:10). We are also told that the devil is in a rage “because he knows that his time is short!” (Revelation 12:12).
While New Age channelers, The Vatican, Hollywood and 65% of Americans (who are freaked out about the Pentagon’s UAP report saying they can’t explain 143 of 144 mysterious sightings) look to the skies, believers of God’s revelation (the Bible) anticipate a monumental catching up into the sky, but NOT by a tractor beam and not by aliens.
The Bible speaks of a “snatching up” of believers, otherwise known as “the rapture” of believers. This is the event in which Jesus will gather His Church unto Himself in the clouds to spend eternity with Him. The Greek word is harpazō which means “to snatch out or away.” The verses that speak of this event are 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, John 14:1–3, & 1 Corinthians 15:51–58.
The Bible also speaks of another future event: the revealing of the Antichrist. We are given a description of his coming in 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12, an event that shortly follows the snatching up of Christ’s church. The Bible also calls him the “Man of Lawlessness” and says his coming will be “accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder, and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie…” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11).
It doesn’t seem too far-fetched at this time to assume some of that delusion could involve a belief in an “alien abduction.” The good news is, you don’t have to stick around for this chaotic time and find out. If you are not sure if Jesus will say to you on judgment day, “Depart from me, I never knew you” and you want to know Him, and how to be forgiven of your sins, take time to look up the verses here, and ask Him to make you one of His whom He’ll never reject (John 6:37).
The Bible says that we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). This means that we have all offended God. We have all broken His law. Therefore, we are guilty of having sinned. Because of this, we are separated from God (Isaiah 59:2), are dead in our sins (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:3), cannot please God (Romans 3:10-11), and will suffer damnation (2 Thessalonians 1:9). The only way to escape this judgment is by receiving Christ by trusting in what Jesus did on the cross (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Peter 2:24).
Since we are sinners, we are incapable of removing the guilt of our sinfulness through our own efforts. Galatians 2:21 says, “…if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” The Law is the do’s and don’ts of moral behavior. In other words, we can’t become righteous by what we do. Why? Because we are dead in our sins (Ephesians 2:3).
We cannot remove our own sins, but God can and will if you ask Him.
Jesus, who is God in flesh (John 1:1, 14; 8:58; Colossians 2:9), bore our sins in His body on the cross (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus lived the perfect sinless life we could not live, bore the penalty of every sin we would commit in our place (1 Peter 2:24) and suffered the penalty of breaking the Law of God that should have fallen upon us while satisfying the wrath of God against the sin of all who would believe in Him (John 3:16,18).
It is only through Jesus that we can escape the penalty that God will execute upon all who have broken His holy and perfect law. Do you want to be saved from the righteous judgment of God? If so, if you want to become a Christian and follow God, then you must realize that you have sinned against God and are under His judgment. You must look to Jesus who died on the cross and rose from the dead. Trust what He did in order to be forgiven of your sentence and be saved from the judgment of God. This is accomplished by faith alone in what Jesus has done. You cannot add any human works to what Jesus has done. He doesn’t want us to try and “clean up our act,” give more, pray more, or busy ourselves in religious activity in the hopes that God will accept us.
Psalm 51:17 points out the one thing God desires more than any other: brokenness over our own sin. When we agree with God about how bad our sin is, we take the first step toward reconciliation with Him. As long as we try to justify, excuse, or rationalize the evil of our own hearts, we will never find our way into God’s presence (1 Samuel 16:7).
Next, count the cost. Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels” (Luke 9:23-26).
Read your Bible daily, maybe find and follow a plan to read the whole Bible in one year. And find yourself a group of believers that are committed to the authority and sufficiency of God’s word (Hebrews 10:24-25).
