Jesus answered,  “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Affirmation is the assertion that something exists or is true. For non-Christians, John 14:6 is probably the most offensive statement ever made because Jesus claims deity (Son of God), and exclusivity (the only way to Heaven). Many world religions take this verse as intolerantly false on the part of Jesus Christ.

If, for the sake of argument, Jesus lied when He made this statement, then He should be considered the greatest impostor and deceiver of all time. But the other way to look at it is—Jesus told the truth. In Jesus’ three-year ministry on earth (as God incarnate), there was never any evidence of Him telling a lie. In fact, when Jesus was falsely accused and tried under Pontius Pilate, the charge was not for lying but rather blasphemy by claiming to be the Son of God (Matthew 26:63-65). Hence, Pilate concluded, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person” (Matthew 27:24, NKJV).

How then can you use John 14:6 to empower you and live victoriously all the days of your life? The answer is—you have to AFFIRM that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life! In doing so is J.O.Y. (Jesus Owning You). When there is J.O.Y. awareness then you have the POWER through Christ to become “more than conquerors” (Romans 8:37). When Jesus died on the cross and resurrected three days after, He became mightily victorious. When you affirm His words in John 14:6 you imputatively become victorious through Him! That’s the reason behind Philippians 4:13, which says, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (NKJV).

CAVEAT: You, however, will not be free from the trials and tribulations of life! Since they are inevitable, you then must welcome boldly these faith-building tests when they come to pass. James 1:2 states, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Having perseverance is truly an evidence of your faith.

Persevering faith is what moves God to answer prayers like what happened to the Prophet Elijah (James 5:17-18). When used as acronym, F.A.I.T.H. stands for Fully Anchored In Trusting Him. Miracles happen because of F.A.I.T.H.—the power of, by and from Jesus Christ. Jeremiah 17:5 states, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Cursed is the man who trusts in man…’” (NKJV). There’s nothing better than Jesus Owning You, for you will no longer be putting matters into your own hands! Self-reliance, on the other hand, is prideful and conceitedness. In contrast, humility, the noose of pride, is Jesus Owning You. J.O.Y. is the most fitting description of a victorious life regardless of one’s status quo.

If you are reading this narrative and you’re a non-believer in Christ or just don’t care, then consider this. Unless you have indisputable proof that Jesus lied in John 14:6, then you must totally yield that He told the truth. That’s the law of non-contradiction. The law simply states where there are two contradictory statements or propositions they cannot both be true in the same sense and at the same time. In other words, if Jesus did not lie in John 14:6 then He told the truth! Supporting John 14:6 is Acts 4:12 that says, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” On the other hand, eternal destruction in fiery hell is God’s punishment for those who are condemned (2 Thessalonians 1:9). Jesus, the embodiment of truth, spoke about heII more than anyone else in the Bible, giving indisputable proof that hell is real.

Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Savior NOW and start life anew! And, pray sincerely this new-life prayer: “Lord Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. I believe that You died for my sins, and I accept You now as my only Lord and personal Savior as I begin my new life in You. From now on and beyond please let the Holy Spirit reside in me and guide me in every detail of my life. Thank you Lord Jesus and to You who is the only Mediator to the Father, be all the glory! Amen.”
