Why do some people put off thinking about Jesus and other spiritual matters?

There’s the “I’ll do it later” excuse...

I’m still young. I’ve got plenty of time.

...The “I don’t want to give up what I’m doing now” excuse...

Why would I want to consider Jesus when this is so much fun?

...The “I’m too busy” excuse…

After the game there’s the highlights, followed by the player interviews. Then there’s the wrap up show. I just don’t have time right now.

...And the “I’ll think about that when I’ve got my life in order” excuse.

My spice rack is way out of alphabetical order, and my sock drawer is a total disaster. Let me get my life organized first.

The problem is, if everyone waited until they thought they were ready, nobody would ever come to the Lord. No one can ever be perfect enough to stand before God.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

This is why God sent His Son, Jesus. He died for our sins and then rose from the grave to give us eternal life.

Christ died for our sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18)

But won’t I have to give up a lot to do this?

No, you can experience joy beyond belief that surpasses the pleasure of sin.

That shouldn't be hard.

The Bible says ... "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10b)

Do we have to act on this now?

The Bible also says ... "I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2b)

Why wait? How do we sign up?

Just talk to God and tell Him in your own words this prayer ...

Dear God, I realize I've been turning my back on you all these years. I now turn from my sin and place my trust in Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. Thank you ofr giving me eternal life. Amen.
