Have you stopped…?

“Have you stopped eating just because someone burned your biscuits once?”

“That does it! I’m never eating again!”

“Have you stopped going to doctors just because you heard about a doctor who was fake?”

“I don’t see anything wrong with your foot.”

“Have you stopped using money because someone gave you a counterfeit bill once?”

“Here! I won’t be needing this anymore.”

“Hey! Thanks!”

“No, you’re probably still eating, and going to doctors, and using money.”

“But have you stopped looking for God because of the same kind of reasoning?”

“You may have been burned by an overzealous Christian…”

“Believe or die!”

“...or deceived by a fake minister…”

“Dig deeeep and give!”

“...Or received a message as phony as a three-dollar bill.”

“Blow your nose into this prayer hankie and God will bless you with great riches.”

“But just because you’ve met a few fakes, frauds, and phonies who claim to represent God, that doesn’t mean God is that way too.”

“Even Jesus Christ hated hypocrisy in religion.”

“Woe to you. Scribes and pharisees, hypocrites!” (Matthew 23:13)

“There are many religious phonies still today. They think aligning themselves closely with the truth will give credibility to their deception.”

“It’s all fake!”

“No, the fact that there are counterfeits shows there must be truth somewhere.”

“Hmmm, but where?”

“Jesus Christ claims to be that truth. “I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man cometh unto the father, but by me.” (John 14:6)”

“But who is this Jesus?”

“Jesus is God’s Son, sent to earth to show God’s love.”

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

“But because of your sin you don’t deserve the eternal life that God offers- only His judgement!”

“Yikes! Including m-me?”

“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

“That gift of eternal life comes through trusting Jesus Christ, because He died to pay the price for your sin, and then He came back to life.”

“Christ also hath suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” (1 Peter 3:18)

“Including me?”

“We are forgiven and receive that free gift of eternal life when we stop trusting our own good deeds and begin trusting in Jesus alone as the payment for our sin.”

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” (John 3:36)

“I believe!”

“Regardless of how you’ve been “burned” by religion in the past, God wants you to respond to the truth today.”

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)

“I believe!”

“God, now I understand that my sin- not the counterfeits and hypocrites- has kept me from you. I now believe that Jesus died for my sins, and I trust in Him alone so I can receive Your gift of eternal life. Thank you.”
