“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16, KJV).
“God is love” (1 John 4:16b, KJV).
You are not holding this Tract in your hand by accident or by chance. God wants you to know that He loves you!
“What? God loves me?
“Well, how much?” you may ask.
Very, very much!
In a world filled with hatred, acrimony, wars, schisms, malice, and divisions, it is very easy to feel unloved. Loneliness is very real, especially when people are far away and isolated from loved ones. Sometimes people feel lonely, even in the company of loved ones. However, we don’t need to feel lonely, because we have a friend who loves us so much.
The Apostle Paul prayed this prayer so that we can know how much God loves us. He said:
“And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself” (Ephesians 3:17-19, TLB).
Now, when you tell most people that God loves them, they immediately look at their lives and focus on the not very good parts. Then they conclude that because of their sins, it’s impossible for God to love them. The Good News is that God loves all his creations, no matter who they are or what they have done. You see, we are all sinners. The only person without the blemish of sin is Jesus Christ.
The Bible says Romans 3:23 (KJV):
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
But Jesus Christ actually came into the world to take away our sins and reconcile us with God. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, sinned in the Garden of Eden and were driven out of Paradise because of their sin. Satan had tempted Eve to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree, and Eve had given the same fruit to Adam to eat. So, from the beginning, Man had sinned. It is now in the nature of Man to continue sinning.
God sent Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, into the world to reconcile us back to him. Jesus went to the Cross of Calvary to pay for our sins. The Bible says in Colossians 2:13-15 (TLB):
“You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then he gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for he forgave all your sins, and blotted out the charges proved against you, the list of his commandments which you had not obeyed. He took this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross. In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin, and God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the cross where your sins were all taken away.”
It was the love that God had for us that made him send his Son to die for our sins. It was the love of Jesus Christ for us that made him go through the beating, spitting, and reviling for our sake.
What further proof do you need that God loves you?
The Bible says in John 15:13 (TLB):
“The greatest love is shown when a person lays down his life for his friends.”
So, God loves you!
It doesn’t matter where you are in life, it doesn’t matter what you have done or not done. It doesn’t matter how many sins you have committed.
God loves you—warts and all!
So, now that you know about the love of God, what are you going to do about it?
Well, let God know that you love him too!
If you have never given your life to Christ, please say a simple prayer like this:
“Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I confess my sins before you today. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I want to know you personally. I open the door of my life to you and ask you to come in and be my Lord and personal Savior. Take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person you want me to be. In Jesus’ name I have prayed. Amen.”
If you have sincerely put your trust in Jesus to be your Savior, welcome to the household of God!
Now, begin a closer walk with God. Look for a Bible-believing church in your neighborhood and connect with other children of God.
Then, bask in the love of God your Creator!
