Most people wonder from time to time: “Does God care about me?”

Sometimes it’s hard to see the answer to the most important question anyone can ask. We can’t always see it by looking at our circumstances or the people around us, even the people closest to us. This world and the people who live in it let us down and may even turn against us. And we certainly can’t find the answer by looking inward. We know our own heart has been cold at times, and so we wonder if God really could love us with all our flaws.

God is love.

Many people are confused about who God is and about all the different religions, but the Bible explains that Jesus came to earth to declare and to demonstrate that “God is Love”.(1) God has not only told us that He cares, but proven His love for us in the most incredible way. (2) God wants us to have abundant and eternal life(3) but He knew the pain and darkness we were in. So, Jesus chose to leave heaven to come to this world to rescue us and show us who God is. He even chose to lay down His life for us and then rose from the dead so that we could know God and experience His love and life!(4)

The reality is that God is so good and holy that He cannot tolerate sin, so sin separates us from God. Yet God does not want us to be separated from Him and provided a solution.(5) “God is Light and in Him is no darkness” the Bible says.(6) God must judge all sin, but because of His unfathomable love, He was willing to send His own Son, Jesus, to die in our place and take the judgment that we deserve so we could be forgiven.(7) And because Jesus was sinless, death could not hold Him, and so He rose from the dead, demonstrating that He is God and that sin and death were defeated!(8)

God did all this so that we could become His children and be with Him forever in heaven.

We are all created by God, but to become a child of God, we must turn to Him in faith and receive the love and forgiveness and life that comes from knowing Him.(9) It’s not something we can earn or gain by any of our own efforts, and fortunately, we don’t have to try to earn God’s forgiveness. If we simply confess our sins and trust Jesus to be our Savior and Lord, He will forgive us.(10) He will put His Spirit in our hearts and begin to fill us with His love, joy and peace, and begin to change us from the inside out as we follow Him.(11) And when this brief life is over, He will welcome us into Heaven, where He will wipe every tear from our eyes, and we can be with Him forever!(12) Because God loves us, we don’t have to fear death. The Bible says we can be saved from our sins and be assured of our eternal destiny with God by calling on Jesus to save us.(13)

Quotes from Jesus:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
