Choices

By: Anthony Phillips

We live in a world full of choices.

Food, clothes, entertainment, etc. But what about the ultimate choice we will one day have to make in our lives? The choice of where we’re going to be spending eternity after this life on earth is over?

You have probably heard all about God and Jesus and the Bible, but has anyone really explained it to you in a way to help you understand?

Well, that’s what this pamphlet is going to do.

When God created the world, He created it to be perfect.

When He created you and me, He created us to be united with Him. But there was this thing called sin that entered the world and it caused a big wall to be put up between all of humanity and God.

Because of the sin that is in the world, we who are born in this world also became sinners.

Romans 3:23 tells us that we are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. Just as crime has a penalty, sin also has a penalty and that penalty is death. So because of sin, all of humanity is doomed forever.

But God came up with a plan to change that.

He sent His dear Son, Jesus, into this world that has been darkened by sin. The Son of God became the only perfect human that has ever walked this earth.

Well, Christ took the death penalty that we so deserved and placed it upon Himself when He went to the cross.

By Him doing that, He became the way for all of humanity to be reunited with God. No one can get to the Father except through Jesus Christ, who is the only way (John 14:6). A man so perfect who was without sin came to be sin for us so that we can live eternally and be right with God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Ecclesiastes 7:20 tells us that there is not one single human on this earth that is good nor has never sinned. So since we are sinners, we are already doomed to eternal separation from God. But thankfully through God’s gracious gift of His Son, we don’t have to be separated from God.

Christ already paid the penalty for us.

All we have to do is believe and receive Him as Lord and Savior. Repent and trust in Him. He is faithful to forgive, no matter what our measure of sin. As sinners, we are guilty of our sin and deserve the death penalty. But when we repent and ask Jesus Christ into our lives, and not only confess, but also believe that He is Lord and that He is the Son of God, we are no longer under sin but we are under grace. It is by God’s grace and grace alone that we are saved (Romans 3:24).

If you do not know nor have received and believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are still under the penalty of sin and must pay the price for it.

But the good news is you don’t have to. Christ already paid the price for you. All you have to do is put your trust in Him and call upon Him to save you. For as it is written:

“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

“Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).

So where do you find yourself today?

Do you find yourself under sin or do you find yourself under grace? If you were to take your last breath on this earth, do you know where you would take your next breath? Would you find yourself taking it in peace and comfort? Or would you find yourself taking it in fear and misery? It is not God’s will that anyone perish but for all to come to Him and repent (2 Peter 3:9).

Just like I had to make my choice, you too will have to make a choice.

If you are ready to make the right choice to be under grace and have eternal life after this life on earth is finished, please talk to God. There is no magic formula for this, so call out to God from your heart. It might sound something like this:

Dear Jesus, I know that I come before you as a worthless sinner. I come to ask you to forgive me of my sins and to change my life around for your will. I believe that you came to give Your life for me so that I can live my life for You. I now invite You into my life and I ask that from this day forward You will be my Lord and Savior. Please give me the peace and the love that only comes from you, Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and paying the death penalty that I so deserve. In Your name I pray,

Amen.

If you prayed with a sincere heart, I would like to say congratulations for making the most important choice in your life that you will ever make. May the spirit of the Lord be upon you and may His light shine brightly in and through you.

SIN = Eternal Separation from God
JESUS = Eternal Life with God

Which choice will you make?
