You can find value in life

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Has anyone ever told you that you are worthless or will never amount to anything? Some people are so harsh as to even tell people they’re nothing more than a big zero. These type of words, when spoken by certain people, can cut like knives and inflict serious damage. They may even cause those who have been told these things to prove their accusers right instead of proving them wrong.

Let’s examine the thought of being a zero and what that really means. A zero by itself does not have any value. However, when you look at $1,000,000,000 you will see it takes a lot of zeros to make up that amount. So a million dollars is really just a bunch of zeros with the right one in front of them. You see, if I am a zero and I follow the right one, then I’m at least a 10. So the first step in finding value in life is to follow the right One. And His name is Jesus!

Help others find their value

Then the second step is to invest in helping others to find their value. If we can get others to follow Him, we link with more
“zeros” and advance to 100, then 1000, then 10,000, to 100,000, and 1,000,000,000.
Really, the value of our lives is not measured on a monetary scale, but in how we make a difference in the lives of others.

This unlimited potential is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the right One. He is the One who came to give us life and life more abundantly. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). So a person can either throw their life away for the devil or give it away to the One who thought they were valuable enough to die for.

Avoid counterfeits

Another way to find value in life is to avoid the devil’s counterfeits, and he offers a bunch of them. A counterfeit may look or sound good, but in reality they are temporary and have no real substance. If today someone offered you a $10 bill or a $40 bill, which one would you take? Although the $40 bill might sound good, don’t take it, because it’s worthless—it’s fake. Beware of the counterfeits.

For example, the Lord offers us peace and joy and the devil counterfeits with drunkenness and drug-induced delusion. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7). God’s plan will keep our hearts and minds, but the counterfeits will cause you to lose them.

The Lord offers love, commitment and family, but the devil’s counterfeits are lust, fornication and adultery.

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4).

There is honor and value in following God’s plan, but shame and judgement are found in the counterfeits.

The Lord offers to wash our sin away through the blood He shed on Calvary’s cross and to never remember them against us anymore.

“But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:12).

“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14).

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” (Hebrews 10:16-17).

Come to Jesus today and find value in your life

The devil’s counterfeit is a continual remembrance of all the wrong you have done. No matter how many of these counterfeits you may have fallen for, or how far you have gone, God loves you and wants to make something out of your life. Call out to Him in faith, believing that Jesus died for you and rose again, and He will save you today. Give your life to Him and see what He can do. He will turn that old creature (zero) into something new.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
