There’s a sickness across the land. It’s in every part of the world. It’s a dark plague—a plague of darkness. Every person on the face of the earth is a carrier. Every person suffers from this sickness. It has been passed down from generation to generation since the beginning of mankind. This dark plague infects us all, right down to the core of the soul. It is a dark plague which affects the vision, the mind, the heart, and erodes the spirit of mankind.
For some, this sickness may appear dormant, but it will slowly, eventually spread. The usual path of infection is from one’s sight, then into the mind—affecting their ability to reason—then into the heart of the victim. It inevitably brings suffering and death.
In many cases, the first evidence of the spread of the sickness is through perverted and profane speech, or through rebellious behavioral patterns. Other signs are listening problems and changes in attitudes. Negative personality and emotional traits such as addiction, depression, tension, anger, negative mood changes, resisting authority, violence, hatred, rebellion, disobedience and an inability to control lust and sensual desires are signs of the spread of the dark plague.
As this sickness of darkness grows, hearts become hardened. It becomes such a heavy burden on humanity that many begin to buckle and drop to their knees. In desperation they cry out! Some souls remember and testify to the Word spoken from long ago. They search the Word for an anecdote for this awful dark plague. “The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them” (Isaiah 9:2). They ask, they seek and they knock. As they ask, seek and knock, they hear a Voice whisper words of reason, hope, peace, love and truth. They begin to see a Light. As they move toward the Light, they discover that the Light becomes brighter and causes the darkness to begin to fade. As they humble themselves to the Light, the sickness in their souls begins to heal. They find that the Light was always there—they just needed to receive it, believe it, follow it and have faith in it. This Light is the cure for the dark plague. They discover the Truth, that the more they vaccinate themselves with the Light, the more the darkness begins to evaporate. The symptoms of the dark plague quickly erode because the Light defeats the darkness. The more humanity receives the Light, the more their vision returns, their minds are made clear, their hearts have joy and their spirits are filled with Love. As this Love fills their hearts, they begin to help one another—family, friends and neighbors. The Cure for the dark plague is shared so all can partake of the Truth and become Unified in the Spirit.
Still, there are those who, because of pride, envy, greed, guilt, shame or bitterness, refuse to accept the cure for the plague. They have become accustomed to the darkness. They habitually walk in the shadows, hoping to avoid the Light that saves. These are the ones who have become blinded and their hearts have become hardened to the Truth. The Word speaks of these, as “springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved” (2 Peter 2:17).
For those who fully accept the Cure and choose to follow the Word’s instructions, the Light begins to glow brighter in the hearts, minds and souls of mankind and the fear of death from the darkness begins to dissolve. The Promise of Life spoken from the Word brings overwhelming joy and excitement to all of humanity. Though there are still some dark clouds that pop up and hover for awhile, the Son shines through, bringing peace and hope of a brighter day where there is no more death but life eternal. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
You see, all mankind has contracted this dark plague of sin, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We cannot save ourselves. But because God loves us, He sent His Son to be born into this world to the Virgin Mary, to walk among us, to teach us, to do miracles and be the Light of this world for us to see who He was. Then, as the perfect Lamb because He had no sin, Jesus gave Himself to be sacrificed on the cross and died as the Substitute for all who will receive Him. The Good News is on the third day He was resurrected, conquering sin and death. There were many witnesses because He showed Himself to His disciples and others before He ascended up into heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father, making the way for us to be saved from the dark sins in our lives and to live for eternity with Him.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). What He requires is that we acknowledge our sinfulness, believe in Him, and follow Him—for there is no other way for us to be saved. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God” (John 3:19-21).
“Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life’” (John 8:12).
“I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness” (John 12:46).
“For You light my lamp; The Lord my God illumines my darkness” (Psalm 18:28).
“The Lord is my light and my salvation” (Psalm 27:1).
“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).
“For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).
“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:5-7).
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness” (Genesis 1:1-4).
The Gospel is the good news of the Saving Grace and the Radiant Brilliance of Light beaming from Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6).
One day, God will once again separate the Light from the darkness. He will separate those who choose to accept His Son from those who are blinded, deceived and with hardened hearts, choose the darkness of the father of lies, deception, rebellion, murder, lawlessness and sin—Satan. “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, 42 and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 13:41-43
Those who have ears—let them hear.
We have a choice to make: which one will it be? Satan’s way of darkness, sin, torment and death in hell? Or the Light of the world, Jesus Christ, who offers Love, Grace, Salvation and Life Eternal in the Kingdom of Heaven. Will you choose the Light of Jesus Christ and have your name written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life or will you be deceived by the devil and be thrown into the lake of fire?
“And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:10, 14-15).
So, God allows us to choose—one way or the other—there is no neutral ground. But, there may not be time to wait. “You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect” (Luke 12:40). “He again fixes a certain day, ‘Today’ … ‘Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts’” (Hebrews 4:7). “Behold, now is ‘the acceptable time,’ behold, now is ‘the day of salvation’” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Don’t wait, for tomorrow may be too late!
Will you choose the right way—Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of Heaven—or the wrong way—Satan and the lake of fire?
Remember, God is good. He does not wish for anyone to die the second death. “‘For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,’ declares the Lord God. ‘Therefore, repent and live’” (Ezekiel 18:32). God created us in His image and loves us so much that He gave us a way of escape from our sin—a way to eternal life. Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also (John 14:1-3).
MY PRAYER: Father in heaven, Most Holy, Most High, the One True God, Creator of all, may You be Glorified! Give us a Great Spiritual Awakening in this Nation and in the world. Forgive us of our sins. Deliver us from the evil and wickedness of this world that seeks to divide and separate us from You. Unify our spirits with Your Spirit. Open our eyes, clear our minds, and soften our hearts so that no living soul will be lost but all will repent and turn from the darkness of sin and come to the Light of the Saving Grace of Jesus Christ. Remove the darkness from us. Oh God, restore us and cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. May Your will be done. These things I ask in the Name that is above all names, the highly exalted Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Today, if you choose to follow the Light of Jesus Christ: humble yourself before Him and ask Him to forgive your sins. Turn away from your sinful path and ask Jesus to guide you in a new path of righteousness and fill your heart with His peace, love and joy. Then, pray for His guidance to find and attend a church that believes and teaches the Truth of His Word, study your Bible and tell others the Good News. - Eddy Jones
