Today, as never before, people question what I believe. They seem to think that I have no basis for my belief, but faith. It is true that my belief is based on faith, but more than that, faith based on the Word of God. I believe what I believe because of the Bible. Those who deny the Bible must base their lives on a philosophy of their own. Everyone’s philosophy is somewhat different, but all philosophy is based on what one thinks. Can you prove to me that your philosophy is correct? You seem to be directing your life like mine, by faith. Your faith is in what you think and my faith is in the Word of Almighty God. My faith is in something that can be tested now. The Bible can stand alone. I need not try to justify it; it speaks for itself.

The Bible is an amazing collection of sixty-six books, written by forty human authors, of nineteen different occupations, over a period of 1500 years, yet without a single contradiction. Earthly speaking, this would be impossible. The Bible tells us how it happened:

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
2 Timothy 3:16

The Bible was inspired by God, which means that God breathed it to man. 2 Peter 1:21 says that “Men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” They did not write what they thought; they wrote the Word of God as He gave it.

I know God wrote the Bible because it tells me things that a man could not have written. Until the 15th century it was common knowledge that the world was flat. Yet, the Word of God states: “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth” in Isaiah 40:22. God said the earth was a circle 700 years before Christ. Isaac Newton first wrote that the world was suspended in space in 1687.

How wise man had become! If only he had read Job 26:7, “He stretcheth out the North over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.” Job wrote what God said, about 1500 years before Christ, almost 3200 years before Science. In comparison to the Bible, one must say that scientists are just a little late. It is a fact that most science books are obsolete before they reach the printers. We have new discoveries every day that contradict what we used to believe. Interestingly, in the last 3500 years the Bible has proven itself true when the truth was finally known.

George Washington, our first president, may have bled to death because of a practice used by doctors of his day known as “bloodletting.” Sickness was believed to be caused by bad blood; therefore the blood was let out of the patient. One can never know how many sick individuals actually bled to death from 4 B.C. until the 19th century. Men just did not understand the blood and its work. Moses must have had some insight when he wrote Leviticus 17:11, “The life of the flesh is in the blood.” You’ll not find a more accurate statement concerning the blood. Moses talked to the One who made the blood and then wrote what God said 1500 years before Christ.

God did something when He wrote the Bible that no human author would ever do. God included prophecy in His book. If man were writing a book he would never include prophecy. He would realize that when his prophecy failed, his book would be disregarded as untrue. In Daniel, chapter 9, we are told the very day that Jesus would ride into the city of Jerusalem over 550 years before His birth. The Bible also tells us the condition of the world just before Christ’s return. In 1 Timothy 4:1 we read:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,
giving heed to seducing spirits,
and doctrines of devils.”

What a picture of the world we live in today. Notice in the last few years how demonism has crept into our society. Many movies, television shows, and magazines deal with various demonic themes. Witchcraft and astrology are the rage. It is interesting that in the Bible, demonic activity and drug use go hand in hand. I will not try to list all the prophecies that have been fulfilled, as they are numerable. Christ Himself fulfilled some 37 during His earthly ministry.

Why did God go through all the trouble to write the Bible? What was His purpose anyway? The answers are found in 1 John 5:13,

“These things have I written unto you that
believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life; and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

God wrote the Bible for at least two reasons; first, that you might believe in Christ; secondly, that you may know without doubt, that if you died you’d go to heaven. Yes, God wrote the Bible so that man might believe what Jesus did for us on the cross. The story of Jesus is so wonderful; one could hardly accept it without proof. The Bible gives us that proof. If you are honest you must admit that the Bible is God’s book.

Allow me now to show you what the Bible says about YOU.

1. God’s standard for you to go to heaven is perfection. “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37).

2. No man has ever met God’s standard. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

3. If you fail to meet God’s standard you will not enter heaven. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

4. You can meet God’s standard only thorough Christ. Jesus died in your place “But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

5. Jesus is your hope of heaven. “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

6. The Bible tells you what you must do:

A. Confess your sinful condition to God. “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).

B. Turn from your sin to Christ. “I tell you Nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).

C. Receive Christ into your heart. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).

D. Believe that Jesus Christ died to pay your sin debt and rose again to prove it was done. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Are you ready to believe?

You can receive Jesus into your heart right now. He is waiting to come in. You can know for sure that if you died today you would go to heaven. Put your trust in Jesus Christ today. You could express your heart’s desire to God in a prayer like this:

Dear Heavenly Father,

I am a sinner. Please forgive me. I turn from my sin to Jesus. I know He died and rose again for me. I now accept Jesus into my heart as my hope of heaven. Help me to obey Him according to your Word. Thank for giving me eternal life. In Jesus name, Amen.

According to God’s Word YOU have eternal life. Read John 3:16, John 5:24 and Romans 3:9-13.
