Everyone has an appointment with death and will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. Where are you going to spend eternity?

Everyone dies – Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Everyone is a sinner – Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

I Corinthians 6:9-10 “…Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The Bible teaches we are all lost, Hell-bound sinners, and cannot save ourselves. If you die with only one sin on your account you will go to Hell, which is a place of:

Everlasting punishment: Matthew 25:46

Everlasting fire: Matthew 25:41

Everlasting burning: Isaiah 33:14

Unquenchable fire: Matthew 3:12

The Bible teaches us that God’s way of salvation is the only way to Heaven.

The Word of God says in Acts 20:21 “… repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Repentance toward God – The person who repents sees himself as exceedingly sinful, and doesn’t want to continue his life of sin. Repentance is a change of mind that will always result in a change of direction. When someone repents there will be a determination to turn one’s heart from sin unto God. No one ever comes to faith in Jesus Christ for salvation while holding on to and loving their sin.

What repentance is not – Biblical repentance is not human reformation nor is it a change from unbelief to belief. It is not “penance,” nor is it confession to a priest. Repentance is not the acknowledgement of being a sinner, while continuing to live in known sins. Repentance is not simply remorse for one’s actions. Asking forgiveness is not the same as repentance. One’s conscience may make him feel sorry for his sins, but it is not biblical repentance.

When biblical repentance occurs, one would not put any hope in the deeds of the flesh—our hope is in Christ.

Good works will not take you to Heaven – Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; …”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Trying to keep the commandments will not take you to Heaven – Most people cannot even recite the Ten Commandments, let alone keep them. James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

You may believe you will go to Heaven because you are a good person – Romans 3:10-13 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

Your faith must be in Jesus Christ alone.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Is your faith in Him? If we could save ourselves, why then did Jesus die upon the cross? Not only did Jesus taste death for every man, but He also shed his blood.

Hebrews 9:22 “… without shedding of blood is no remission” (forgiveness, pardon).

Not only did Jesus die on the cross and shed His blood for our sins, He did what you and I cannot do. He rose bodily from the grave after three days and nights, presented His blood before the Father in Heaven and sprinkled His blood upon the mercy seat in Heaven.

Hebrews 9:12 “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Are you willing to repent and trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, or are you going to continue in a life of sin and spend eternity in Hell?

How can you come to have faith in Jesus Christ so that you will spend eternity in Heaven with Him?

Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

I Corinthians 1:21 “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
