Halloween is a fun time! We get to eat candy, wear costumes, and pretend to be someone or something other than who we are.

Have you ever thought about what God sees when He looks at you? He looks past what we pretend to be, and sees everything we do and say and think. Does that sound like bad news? Here is God’s good news for you.

1. GOD CREATED US

The Bible teaches that God made us so that we could know Him and live with Him.

“In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him” (Genesis 5:1).

“God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people” (2 Corinthians 6:16).

2. SIN SEPARATED US

Then we sinned, and were separated from God. Sin is anything we do that goes against what God wants.

“Your iniquities [wrong-doings] have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you” (Isaiah 59:2).

“All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

3. JESUS DIED FOR US

God loves us so much that He sent Jesus—His only Son—to die for us. Through Jesus, we can be brought back to God.

“He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation [payment] for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

“Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

IT’S TIME TO GET REAL

We can try to hide our sins from God, but He already knows all about them.

“The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3).

To be forgiven and made clean, we must put our trust in Jesus Christ, who died to pay for our sins, and rose again to give us life.

“God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
