Have you ever wondered why Jesus hasn’t returned yet? I have heard some say Jesus is coming soon, or that He’s coming in a few years and others may say we will not see Jesus in our generation.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.”
So now that we understand the no one knows the exact day of Jesus’s return to judge the world, please let me share with you the reason for the wait.
2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
God has ultimately been patient with us, giving every person on this earth the opportunity to turn away from their sins and believe in the gospel of His Son. The Apostle Peter calls us to realize that the patience of God toward us is our salvation (2 Peter 3:15).
God is not willing that any should perish in the lake of fire, and the greatest evidence for this is God sending His only Son who gave Himself upon a cross for our sin debt, who then was buried for our offences and then was raised again on the third day for our justification. Thus granting freedom from sin and punishment, and giving eternal life to those who repent and believe.
The will of God is that all men would be saved from sin and death and come to the knowledge of the truth. Now understanding why Jesus hasn’t come yet, I persuade you with an urgent message: your life is a vapor that is here today and gone tomorrow (James 4:14). Tomorrow or next year doesn’t exist yet, today may be your last day in which if we die without a Savior and in our sins we shall have no excuse before God why we never came to Him, for He has been patient with us.
So then my friend, now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2) and while today is still today God is reaching out to you to save you and make you new because of the great love that He has for everyone of us. Though you were dead in your sins Jesus can give you life and though you were darkness Jesus can make you light. Won’t you come to Him today and be reconciled to God?
John 6:37 “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”
