Whatever is Easter really about?
Egg hunts and candy? Stylish new clothes?
Its meaning’s really much deeper than that—
So here’s the true story all need to know.
All was perfect when God made the world,
‘Till the day that mankind disobeyed.
Man’s closeness with God was then broken,
And sin brought sorrow still known today.
Yet God’s love has never diminished—
Though each of us still commits sin.
He desires to save and forgive us,
And to bring us to Heaven with Him.
What great love and mercy God showed—
For though payment for sin must be met,
His Son would come as our substitute—
Giving His life to pay for our debt.
When Jesus came to live on this earth,
He understood the full reason why.
One night He was taken and falsely charged,
Beaten, then nailed on a cross to die!
Kindhearted men removed His dead body
And gently placed it inside of a tomb.
A heavy stone was rolled to the door—
His body then lay three days in that gloom.
Yet Jesus had said He’d come back alive—
For how could a dead Savior save?
And quite early that first Easter morning,
Two angels showed up at the grave!
They shared great news with the mourners,
Changing sorrow to gladness that day:
“He’s no longer here; for He has risen;
Come see the place where Jesus once lay!”
The risen Jesus appeared to so many—
They could see He had come back alive!
He remained on earth for just forty days,
Then returned to His home in the sky!
How lovely this true story of Easter—
Because Jesus died and then rose again,
His forgiveness is available to all,
And a future in the glory of Heaven!
Will you pray, telling Jesus you’ve sinned,
You believe that He died in your place,
You receive Him as Savior—and then
Seek to please Him the rest of your days?

The Bible tells us about:
OUR SIN
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
GOD’S LOVE
Romans 5:8 “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God …”
CHRIST’S RESURRECTION
Matthew 28:5-6 “But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.’”
Ephesians 1:20 “… He raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.”
HOW TO BE SAVED
Mark 1:15 “… Repent and believe in the gospel.”
John 3:18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
John 1:12 “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
FOLLOWING CHRIST
1 John 2:6 “Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
Ephesians 5:1-2 “… Be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love …”
