As we exchange gifts during this Christmas season, it is important that we remember the true reason for the season. “God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3,4) is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). This is God’s desire and will for you, and so He offers you His indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).

God is aware of our dilemma, that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). He knows that the penalty for our sin is death (Romans 6:23). All of us are powerless to do anything about the penalty for our sins and so it’s impossible for us to reconcile ourselves to God. However, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God chose to become one of us in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus came on a rescue mission to rescue us from sin and eternal separation from God. Jesus willingly died as our substitute to satisfy all of God’s righteous requirements for the penalty of our sins. Jesus Christ, through the shedding of His blood, as well as His death and resurrection, satisfied the penalty for our sins.

Having satisfied all of the righteous requirements of the law, God can now righteously offer you the gift of forgiveness and eternal life because of what Christ has accomplished. This is the Christmas message: “There is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord “(Luke 2:11). “She will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).

Believe the good news and receive God’s
gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ!
