The Gospel: “Good News”

FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME according to the Bible, mankind’s life was meant to be a beautiful and satisfying experience in perfect harmony with their creator, Almighty God, who is holy, good and just. In fact, God created man and woman to enjoy His fellowship in a perfect world, full of love and trust, free from death and sin.

DESPITE THIS PERFECT BEGINNING, there came a time when the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, chose to go against one of God’s commands. The consequences of their rebellion was immediate. Their sin, the choice to disobey God, broke their once close fellowship with Him (Genesis 3). The consequence of their sin was physical and spiritual death. Spiritual death meant eternal judgment in Hell to pay for their sin.

WE HAVE ALL FOLLOWED IN THE FOOTSTEPS of Adam and Eve. All mankind has inherited a sin nature from the first man, Adam (Romans 5). Since then, all of human history can be summed up in this way: “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened” (Romans 1:21). “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Man’s sin has separated Him from Holy God.

TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO, God put a plan into action whereby fellowship and harmony between God and man could be restored—where mankind could be reconciled to their Creator. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was God in the flesh, became a man, born of a virgin and lived a perfect life without sin. During His 33 year life on earth, Jesus Christ never once sinned! (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus Christ was qualified as the perfect sinless substitute for all of sinful mankind (1 Peter 2:24).

CHRIST’S DEATH ON THE CROSS was not an accident or mistake. It was all planned by God before this world was created (Ephesians 1:4-6, John 17:1-5). By dying as man’s substitute on the cross, Jesus Christ paid the penalty for all guilty sinners, from Adam to the last person that will ever live. One sinless man died for all (Romans 5:8).

THE BIBLE PUTS IT THIS WAY: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18).

When Jesus says to “believe” in Him, He simply wants you to place your confidence, your trust, and your reliance in Him. He is the only one that can give you the complete forgiveness of your sins and pay the price of Hell forever! When you accept Him as your Savior by trusting only in Him and nothing else (not good works, not baptism, not church membership, etc.), then He saves you!

JESUS CHRIST NOT ONLY DIED for all our sins, but after three days HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD! This is the glorious Gospel or “Good News” of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-8). We have a Savior who is alive and seated at the right hand of God the Father (Romans 8:34).

GOD’S SALVATION IS A FREE GIFT! Salvation does not depend on any works that you can or will do. Christ has done all the work necessary for your salvation through His death on the cross.

THE BIBLE SAYS, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast“ (Ephesians 2:8-9).

WOULD YOU RIGHT NOW …

  • Believe that you are a sinner who stands guilty before a righteous and holy God.
  • Believe that because of your sin and rebellion you deserve the wrath of God.
  • Believe that there is nothing you can do on your own to save yourself or reconcile yourself to God.
  • Believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth, lived a sinless life, went to a cross and took the punishment you deserve.
  • Believe that He died as your substitute and paid the full price for your sin.
  • Believe that He died, was buried and then three days later He was raised from the dead and now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father.

If you believe this, then repent—turn to JESUS Christ in faith! Place all your trust and hope in Him today! Repent and believe this Glorious Gospel. Rest in Christ today, for there is no other way!

If you have genuinely repented and put your trust in Christ as your Lord and Savior, then the Bible says you have received forgiveness of your sins and have been delivered from the penalty of your sins.

Amen! Not only are you saved NOW, but for ALL ETERNITY, YOU CANNOT LOSE YOUR ETERNAL SALVATION! (John 10:28-30, John 6:37)
