There are four things we need to understand in order to go to Heaven.
1. We are all sinners.
“10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one ... 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:10-12, 23
2. Because we are sinners there is a price to pay.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6:23
This death is eternal separation from God in a place The Bible calls Hell.
3. Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect sinless life and died on the cross to take our place.
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
The word “commendeth” means that He demonstrated or showed His love for us. Jesus Christ paid for all of our sins on the cross and was buried and rose again from the dead. He offers the FREE gift of eternal life to all who will put their trust in Him.
4. The Bible tells us that if we will call on Jesus to save us, He will forgive ALL of our sins and give us the
FREE gift of eternal life.
“9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation … 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:9-10, 13
In the book of Acts, a jailer asked the Apostle Paul how to be saved.
“29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 And brought them out, and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ 31 And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.’” Acts 16:29-31
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9:
“8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Grace is God giving us what we don’t deserve, it is a FREE gift. Have you received God’s FREE gift?
The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ.
“Jesus saith unto him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.’” John 14:6
Referring to Jesus Christ the Bible says:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Act 4:12
If you would like to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, here is a suggested prayer you can say to put your trust in Jesus Christ and be saved.
“Dear God in heaven, I know that I am a sinner and I believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, was buried and rose again from the dead. And now, with all of my heart I’m asking Jesus Christ to forgive my sins, to save my soul and to give me the FREE gift of eternal life. Dear Lord Jesus, I now trust you as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life Lord Jesus. Thank you Jesus.”
If you prayed that prayer from your heart, the Bible says you can know for sure that you have eternal life and that you’re on your way to heaven.
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13
After we put our trust in Jesus, God wants us to rest in Jesus and trust Him for everything. He also wants us to read His word, the Bible, to learn more about Him.
“28 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
“But grow in grace, and in]the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18
