Hello, I want to share a little about Christianity with you.
A Christian is someone who believes that Jesus is the Son of God and follows His teachings about life and the afterlife. Christians believe Jesus came to earth in human form and was born in Bethlehem to a woman named Mary. In fact, the way we track time is based on the year Jesus was born. Christians believe Jesus was without sin and was perfectly holy, something no one else has ever been. We are all born with pride, a desire to do things our own way, but Jesus lived selflessly, always for others.
This selfless love led to Jesus to lay down His life as a sacrifice, enduring man’s anger and also God’s holy punishment for our sin. But three days after His death on the cross, Jesus rose from the dead to show us that if we follow His teachings, we can have eternal life and spend forever in heaven with Him.
Some historians who wrote about Jesus include:
- Tacitus (c. 56–120 AD)
- Josephus (c. 37–100 AD)
- Pliny the Younger (c. 61–113 AD)
Jesus taught that love is the greatest commandment: love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. He taught forgiveness, that we should forgive others as He forgave us. He also taught that the best way to live is to serve others.
Jesus taught that if we believe in Him and accept the salvation He offers, we can have a relationship with God. He said that as believers, God will provide for our needs. Jesus also taught that it is better to give than to receive.
Jesus shared these important truths about God:
God Made You: “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them” (Genesis 1:27).
God Loves You: “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
God Has a Plan for You: “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
Jesus is the Way to God: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6).
The most famous verse Jesus taught is:
John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus taught that if we believe in Him, we will have eternal life. His death is a gift for anyone who accepts it. As a Christian, our greatest desire is for others to follow Jesus and His teachings.
You have a choice: accept or reject Jesus’ gift.
To accept His gift, pray to Him. Here’s an example of what to pray:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your name, Amen.”
