Would you believe…
“...Some people think George Washington was the first president of the United States.”
“I cannot tell a lie. I’m not first.”
“He was the first under our President Constitution, but John Hanson was the first elected “President of the United States in Congress Assembled” in 1781.”
“...Some people think Thomas Edison was the inventor of the light bulb.”
“Before Edison in 1879 was J.W. Starr in 1845 who patented an illumination device using a vacuum bulb.”
“Hey would you hit the lights? I can’t see what I’m doing here.”
“...Some people think the Bible is just a bunch of ancient fairy tales.”
“No archaeological discovery has ever controverted a biblical reference.” -Nelson Glueck Jewish Archaeologist
“Wow! An ancient can opener.”
“...Some people think that Jesus is not really God...that it was merely “coincidence” that He did all the things the Old Testament said He would do.”
“Yee-Hah! I found it!”
“The Chance of Jesus fulfilling 8 of the prophecies written about Him is equal to picking one marked quarter out of an area of quarters covering the state of Texas 2 feet deep.”
“...Some people think that Jesus was just a great moral teacher...one of many through the years.”
“I and the Father are one.”
“However, Jesus called Himself God. Thus He’s either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord… not just a great moral teacher.”
“...Some people think that it is too narrow-minded to believe Jesus is the only way to God.”
“Truth by definition is narrow. Most people would want a narrow-minded pilot landing their plane.”
“Hey, I’m an open-minded guy! Let’s land in that cornfield.”
“...Some people think that since they are “better than most,” they are “good enough” to get into Heaven.”
“Being “better than most” to meet Heaven’s standard is like swimming from U.S. to Japan. No matter how much “better” the swimmer, none is “good enough” to get there by His “own efforts.”
“Ready, set, go!”
“...Some people think that since they do more good things than bad, that makes them acceptable to God.”
“How can good deeds erase bad deeds? How can a perfect and just God accept any sin at all?”
“Fix it!”
“What’s wrong with it? Most of the window is still unbroken.”
“...Some people think that it doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you are sincere in your beliefs.”
“I believe it will hold! I believe! I believe!”
“All the sincerity in the world won’t matter if the object of your belief is flawed.”
“...Some people think that a person can’t believe if he has too many doubts.”
“You can have all kinds of doubt but still take a step of faith and believe.”
“This plane don’t got no propellers. We’re all gonna die!”
“Trust me, grandpa. We’re safe in spite of your doubts.”
“...Some people think that a loving God wouldn’t send anyone to Hell.”
“Hell is a place of total separation from God. Through their stubborn refusal to turn to Him, people are, in effect, choosing to go there.”
“Won’t you at least consider God?”
“Not me, I’m too open-minded!”
“...Some people think that all churches are full of hypocrites.”
“Gulp! Me?”
“Jesus hates hypocrisy… especially when people deny their own sinfulness and refuse to see their need for a Savior.”
“Here’s the real truth you need so you can make a decision to believe in Jesus:
- Realize that God loves you and wants to have a relationship with you for all eternity. “For God so loved the world…” (John 3:16a)
- Man has prevented that relationship from occurring because of his sin. “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
- God came to us as a man (Jesus) to pay for our sins thru His death on a cross. “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins...that He might bring us to God.” (1 Peter 3:18)
- By rising from the grave Christ conquered death for each one of us when we place our trust in Him as our Savior. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31)”
“Lord Jesus, thank You for dying for me. I confess my sin and place my trust in You as my Savior, Amen.”
