During our lives, we’ll make thousands of choices
In childhood, we choose what toy to play with, or what foods we like or don’t like. As adults, we choose what job to take, where to live, or who we marry. Some choices can affect our lives more than others, such as where we go to college, or who we vote for. Some choices are simple, some choices are more difficult, and some choices can affect not only our lives, but the lives of others. As you can see, there are many choices we will make in our lives, but …
There is one choice more important than any other
And that is your decision whether or not to believe in Jesus Christ. Choosing one way will lead to eternal life in Heaven where there will be no more pain, no more death, no more anxiety—it’s a perfect world where there is only peace and beauty beyond belief. The other choice is what is called the deadly choice, and that is choosing to reject Jesus and His gift of salvation. By rejecting Jesus, that person is choosing hell.
The Bible describes both Heaven and hell
If anyone rejects Jesus and chooses hell, they’ll be subjected to an existence that cannot be fully explained. A person who chooses hell will be totally alone, and they will be in constant pain. They’ll experience a darkness so dark they can feel it. Demons will constantly torment them, and they will cry out in agony for a death that never comes.
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners—that we were born with a sin nature, and are therefore separated from God. Romans 3:23 tells us:
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
God loves us very, very much, and He doesn’t want us to be separated from Him—He doesn’t want anyone to go to hell. So to solve the dilemma caused by our sin nature, God sent His one and only Son to defeat that which separates us from Him. Most people know John 3:16, which says:
“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
People who believe in God’s Son, Jesus, go to live in Heaven—where God resides. Heaven is a paradise where no pain, no sorrow, and no death exist. However, there is only one way to assure that a person is going to Heaven, and that is their belief in Jesus Christ.
John 14:6 tells us that Jesus told his disciples:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
We as humans cannot be good enough, we can’t be kind enough, we can’t do enough good things to earn our way into Heaven. We simply admit that we are sinners, separated from God, and believe that we need a Savior in order to come back to the relationship God wants to have with each and every one of us.
If you are reading this, there is still time for you to make a choice.
Will you choose to believe in Jesus and live in Heaven forever? Or will you make the deadly choice and spend eternity in hell?
