OUR PROBLEM: SEPARATION

In the beginning, God created us in His own image to have an abundant life (Genesis 1:27; John 10:10).

He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him, but gave us a will and a freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way (Isaiah 53:6). We still make this choice today. The Bible says…

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Our choice to disobey God results in separation from God and through the ages, individuals have tried in many ways to bridge this gap without success.

Man (in sin) seeking the solution

Good Works, Religion, Philosophy, Morality

Separation from God (Holy) Abundant Life

There is only one solution to this problem of separation...

God's Solution: The Cross

Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on the cross, and rose from the grave. In this, He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.

The Bible says…

“For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).

“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

Man — Jesus Christ — God

God has provided the only way for sinful people to be reconciled to a perfect God. However, we must make the choice to come to Him on God’s terms ...

MAN’S RESPONSE: BELIEVE AND RECEIVE

In the same way that we chose to disobey God, we have a second chance to choose a new path. Jesus Christ offers us a new start, one that leads to unspeakable joy and peace, both now and in the future. However, our response is not about trying harder to do the right things. Good works will never bring us into right relationship with God. God’s way begins with trusting Jesus Christ—placing our faith in who He is and what He has done for us. The Bible says…

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

“But to all who did receive Him, who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).

Where are you at right now? Do you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins? Why should you go one more day without receiving Him as your personal Lord and Savior?

ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS TO…

1. Admit your problem of separation from God because of your sin.

2. Be willing to turn from your way to God’s way (repent).

3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.

4. Receive Him now as your personal Lord and Savior.

A suggested prayer to receive Jesus Christ:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I have not been living within Your plan and purpose for my life and I ask You to forgive me for this. I believe that You died for me and paid the penalty for my sin. I want to turn from my sin and now invite You to come into my heart and life. Help me to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

GOD’S PLAN: RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM

Believing and receiving Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior is just the
beginning. Now that you have entered this relationship with Him, God desires for you
to deepen this relationship by:

• Reading your Bible every day to know Christ better

• Talking to God in prayer every day

• Telling others about who Christ is and what He has done for them

• Worshipping, fellowshipping, and serving with other believers in a Bible-believing church
