Good News, Bad News

“Before you come inside, dear, I have some good news and bad news.”

“What’s the good news?”

“Our insurance should cover most of the damage.”

“And the bad news is we had a fire, right?”

“How did you know?”

In almost every situation there is good news and bad news.

Even news that is supposed to be good….

“You just won the 8 million dollar lottery!”

...has a dark side.

“The I.R.S is here to see you, dear.”

And news that is supposed to be bad…

“My gal just left me!”

...often has a bright side.

“Ooooo! That’s a shame!”

The same is true with people. People who are supposedly very bad…

“This is a hold-up!”

...Sometimes do things that are very good.

“I give up! I’m thru with my life of crime! Take me away!”

And people that are supposedly very good…

“Integrity! Integrity! Integrity!

...sometimes do things that are very bad.

“Mercy! Mercy! Mercy!”

“Hypocrite!”

Hypocrite? But who hasn’t been a hypocrite at some time?

The Bible says…

“There is no one righteous, not even one…” (Romans 3:10)

“ULP! Including me?”

The Bible also says…

“The wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23)

“Oooo! That’s bad news for us hypocrites!”

But there is good news!

“What? What?”

God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place for our sins.

“By this Gospel (Good News) you are saved...that Christ died for our sins...that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day, according to the scriptures (The Bible).” 1 Corinthians 15:2-9

“So what do I do now?”

You need to trust Jesus as your personal Savior as payment for your sins.

“ ‘The time has come,’ He said. ‘The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!’ ” (Mark 1:15)

“Lord, I don’t want to be a hypocrite by thinking I don’t need your love and forgiveness. I’m trusting you to be my personal Savior, Amen.”
