Don’t you just hate to be lied to? Can you recall a lie you were told that made you upset? What do you think would be a common lie that is told the most? By whom? Politicians? Athletes? Newscasters? Bosses? Employees? All these people will lie at one time or another. Lying is never acceptable and no one likes to be lied to.

Do you know what God thinks of lying? He doesn’t approve of it either—in fact, it’s one of the Ten Commandments.

Of all the lies we hear, the most destructive and damaging are the lies of the devil. Unfortunately, we listen to and believe these lies, too.

LIES THE DEVIL TELLS MEN ABOUT GOD

1. LIE: God is not a whole lot different from me.

TRUTH: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8).

2. LIE: God isn’t actually involved in or concerned with the details of my life.

TRUTH: “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:17).

3. LIE: I can earn God’s favor.

TRUTHs: “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

4. LIE: There are many ways to God.

TRUTH: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

LIES THE DEVIL WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE ABOUT YOURSELF.

1. LIE: I’m not responsible for my actions.

TRUTH: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

“For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

2. LIE: Pleasure and entertainment can satisfy me.

TRUTHS: “He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity” (Ecclesiastes 5:10).

“Great peace have they which love thy law” (Psalm 119:165).

“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied” (Proverbs 27:20).

3. LIE: I’m the master of my own destiny.

TRUTH: “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works” (Revelation 20:12).

LIES THE DEVIL WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE ABOUT SIN.

1. LIE: Who others think I am matters more than who I really am.

TRUTH: “…for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

2. LIE: If I mean well, that’s good enough.

TRUTH: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, [by accepting His Son]” (Titus 3:5).

3. LIE: I can trust my heart.

TRUTH: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9).

4. LIE: God could never forgive me for what I’ve done.

TRUTH: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief” (The Apostle Paul killed Christians before he turned to Christ, 1 Timothy 1:15).

5. LIE: I can hide my secret sin since it only hurts me.

TRUTHs: “Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance” (Psalm 90:8).

“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:14).

WHERE LYING COMES FROM

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Jesus warns us about the lies of the devil. The Bible is all that we can depend on for giving the truth.

Jesus also tells us that He is “the way the truth and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me” (John 14:6).

Don’t believe anything about getting to Heaven unless you get it from the Bible!

The Bible is the basis of all truth—there is right and wrong, and God is the One who determines it.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).

Turn from your ways and trust the Lord Jesus Christ today as your personal Savior!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
