Who Am I?

This question is being asked more and more in our society. People have never been so confused about their identity as they are now. Beyond all the possible answers to this question, the Bible tells us all who we are naturally: sinners.

The Lord tells us that we were born in this condition. This explains why we do the things that we do. People lie, steal, take the name of the Lord in vain, murder, and dishonor their parents because we were all born with these tendencies. If something does not change about us, then we will eventually be cast into hell forever because of this (Psalm 9:17).

We must all come to the conclusion, that we are not alright, and that everything is not going to just work out in the end. If that were the case, God would not have commanded us all to repent (Acts 17:30).

What Can I Do?

The simple answer to this question is nothing. There is nothing you can do. When mankind fell in the garden, he fell all the way down. To put it plainly, we could never pull ourselves out of this mess.

This is where Jesus Christ comes in. The Bible tells us that God sent His own Son to condemn sin (Romans 8:3). That’s the summary of the gospel. Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, came down and gave His life for us. Literally, He suffered for us (1 Peter 2:21), taking our punishment, and setting us free by the sacrifice of Himself.

Now, this Salvation that was purchased by Christ is a gift given by God Himself. So all that is left for us to do is humble ourselves, turn from our sin, and turn to the Living God. We must throw ourselves down upon the mercy of God, that He might freely bestow this salvation upon us as individuals. May God bless you!
