Have you ever thought about this before …

Who you really are?

Some people think that what they do defines who they are, or they believe that being a parent is who they are, or they think that their spouse “completes” them. But what happens when they lose that job, or a loved one dies? Or if their child leaves this world unexpectedly, or their spouse falls ill with cancer and doesn’t make it past the second chemo treatment. What about divorce? Who do they hold onto then?

More often than not, their world falls apart. Because they placed their trust and hope in their job or a person, they end up having nothing to hold onto and their world is shattered. They may fall into a severe depression, not want to go on living. They may feel they have no purpose, or even start clinging to someone or something else to try to fill the void. Or they may even start drinking heavily or using drugs.

Well, let me tell you, that’s where God steps in!

The One who created the Book of Life, the Lamb’s Book of Life that is, knows exactly where you are, what you have done and who or what you have put your trust in (which ended up leaving you empty or even devastated).

He sees you and knows everything about you. How is that? Because He created you! And He wants an intimate relationship with you. He wants you to know that you are deeply and passionately loved by Him and that when You put your trust in Him, He will never let you go.

Pay attention here … you have an enemy. He is the enemy of your soul. He wants nothing more than to destroy your life, your faith and your relationships—both with God and others. He wants you to ignore Him so He can wreak havoc in your life and destroy you. And he masquerades himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

Be reminded of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Word says, God has sent His Son to defeat the devil (who is your enemy) and sin and the grave, so that you can have a full and rich relationship with your Heavenly Father. Jesus has opened the door to that relationship and all you have to do is believe He paid the price for your sin through His death and resurrection and put your trust in God–He will do the work.

“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Agree with (admit to) Him that you are a sinner and need His forgiveness, if you have not already done that. If you are a believer and have not been living for Jesus, it’s not too late to come back.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Remember His Word to you—who He says you are:

  • Accepted (Romans 15:7)
  • Chosen (John 15:16)
  • Loved (John 3:16)
  • Predestined for adoption to sonship (Ephesians 1:5)
  • Predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29)

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified.” Romans 8:29-30

Live according to His commands and submit to His authority over your life. He will turn you around and give you eternal life.

So, you see, God gives us so much more when we are in His Kingdom and are Kingdom-minded, living for His Glory and not getting stuck in life by putting our trust and hope in material things or other people.

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

So join me in humbling yourself and committing your life to God. There is no other way to live the life God has given us, but to show respect and reverence for the One who came to give up His life for us. He died and rose again to prove He is God and show us the way to live. May you surrender all to His authority and know that you are treasured by Him, forever, and will live continuously in His presence, now and for eternity!
