Thank you for taking the time to read this. You see, I really want to spend eternity with you! Years ago, I was asked a question. If you were to die today, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven? I could not answer this question. My life felt like dust in the wind. I hoped that someday I would turn the corner and things would be better. Then, a poem was handed to me. It said this:

The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power, to know just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. To lose one’s wealth is sad indeed, to lose one’s health is more, to lose one’s soul is such a loss that no man can restore.

51 people died as you read this short poem. Sooner or later, you will find yourself in the hands of the living God. Are you ready? What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? (Mark chapter 8, verse 36)

I questioned if God would know me if I died today, I hardly knew Him. So I decided to try something. Every day for weeks on end, I would look up and ask God if He was real or not. I said to Him, Show me if you are real, I cannot hear you or even see You. I need proof! In Jeremiah chapter 33:3 God tells us this: Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

As the months went by I kept calling out to God daily. Thoughts were popping into my head and I knew that He was working on me. One thought I had was this: If I have no relationship with God on this earth now; what makes me think I will have one in Heaven? I knew that I needed more answers.

One day I decided to dig out a Bible that sat in a box in my apartment. As I was reading I began laughing to myself, saying, yeah right, me, reading the Bible? Yet I could not seem to get enough of this Amazing Bible stuff. James 4:14 says this: You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Life is a vapor, like the morning fog—here and gone!

As I continued my search, I found myself listening to Christian radio for the first time. I was learning to Walk by Faith, like the song says by Jeremy Camp:
I will walk by faith even though I cannot see You.

I later read in Matthew chapter 7, that the gateway to Heaven is very long and narrow and few will enter in. But the gateway to Hell is very wide and many will go in. This verse really scared me because I knew that I was one of many and not one of the few. As God continued to tug on my heart I decided to visit a little Baptist church near my apartment. I walked in all by myself that morning. A teenager greeted me with a smile. I bluntly asked him this: How do you know for sure that you are going to Heaven? Can you tell me? I just do not get it!

Something he said got my attention. God, the Creator of the universe knows you, loves you, and wants to connect and spend time with you. He has been there all the time just waiting! He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die an awful death on the cross for you, so your sins could be forgiven. He died in your place so that you could live forever with Him in Heaven. God wants to put the broken pieces of your life back together, if you will just invite Him into your life—The choice is yours.

It sounded so simple, yet I did not understand it all. But with childlike faith (Matthew 18:3) I said yes to God and told Him: I want You to come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I am sorry for my sins; please take me just as I am and help me to understand how to walk with You. Teach me Your ways and mold me to be more like You. I choose this day to follow You. Please come into my life, I need you Dear Lord.

The song Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin explains how I felt: My chains fell off, I’ve been set free; My God my Savior has ransomed me; and like a flood, His mercy reigns, unending love, amazing grace.

I no longer had doubts about death and eternity. My destiny was sure. Now, when I stand face to face with God, He will know me, not as a stranger, but as a friend. As Matthew 11:28 says: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. I truly found rest with God that day! He was putting my life together one brick at a time. You see, God has the power if you have the desire.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew chapter 7, verse 7). This simple verse became my favorite as I found myself reading it over and over again. It truly did draw me to the Lord as I hope it does you!!! There is a road that leads to life and it has no end to it. I hope you find it! Will God know you when you stand alone before Him, or will He say, I never knew you. (Matthew 7:21)

God takes us just as we are. We don’t have to fix everything; He does the fixing for us when we invite Him into our life. Please keep seeking and calling out to Him while you still can. Eternity is forever and ever, just a blink of an eye away. Don’t wait too long my friend. Come just as you are...He is waiting. If you are willing to truly believe and take God seriously, then pray something like this:

Dear God, I am sorry for my sins and need Your forgiveness. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me and for paying the penalty for all my sins . Please take me just as I am, and help me to follow you for all the rest of my days. I need You and want you in my life. Please come into my life today.
