God’s handiwork is all around us. It can be seen even if you’ve never read the Bible. Here are just 7 examples:
- Go out on a clear summer’s night. Look up at the sky and acknowledge the enormity of the universe. In your heart, you will know that “Someone” created it all!
- Meditate on how you are merely a speck on a spinning planet circling the sun.
- If not for the law of gravity, you couldn’t keep your feet on the ground!
- Most of the earth is covered with water—in some cases as deep as 7 miles. Yet with no access to sunlight, scores of new species of fish are being discovered each year.
- A caterpillar soon turns into a beautiful butterfly, with exquisite appearance that only a master Creator could design!
- Those crows who seem to be squawking randomly are actually communicating with one another as God sovereignly has ordained! And…
- Consider bears who can hibernate for months, dropping their heart rate and body temps to incredibly low levels, and yet survive.
Yes, all of creation teaches us there’s a Creator—a wise Designer!
As we said, you can see evidence of God’s existence all around you without opening the Bible, but here’s the problem. God’s Word tells us that the evidence you see that way leaves you without excuse (Romans 1:20). In other words, this evidence and knowledge of God is not enough to SAVE you, but it is enough to condemn you to eternal punishment if you don’t repent and serve Him.
That’s the BAD news.
The GOOD news is that the Bible tells us all we need to know about eternal salvation!! And the gift of salvation is available to every single person who hears and believes the Gospel!
The fact is, God’s handiwork is most readily proclaimed through the Bible. There are 66 books, and they unite infallibly to bring one synchronized message: Salvation from Sin comes through Jesus Christ, God’s Son.
There are prophecies made in the Old Testament that were fulfilled hundreds of years later in the New Testament … only God could be behind predicting the future like that. And to those who say it was MEN who wrote the Bible … yes, God used men in the same way you and I would use a PEN to write down what we wanted. But those are not MAN’S thoughts recorded in Scripture!! If they were, our “heroes of the faith” would not have their failures recorded as is the case with Moses, David, Peter, and Paul. These men recorded their lapses, as well as the times they followed and obeyed God’s will!
Again, what we know of God through creation is enough to leave us without excuse if we never read the Bible, but what we read in the Bible IS enough to save us if we repent and believe His Gospel.
Here is the Gospel, very simply.
We are all SINNERS. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That includes me, and that includes you. We were all born with a sin nature that we inherited from our first parents, Adam and Eve, and we have each ratified our rebellion countless times in our lives.
We are LOST as it relates to our relationship with our Creator (for we are His ultimate creation, far above all of the other things mentioned)! But “the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). We are each headed for Hell, which is eternal separation from God, if we continue as we are because God is holy and we are not. “And…it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” says Hebrews 9:27.
The way to avoid Hell? Really, it’s as simple as Mark 1:15b, “Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Because of God’s handiwork in creation, you cannot say, “I didn’t believe in God,” when you stand before Him as your Judge. You may be able to fool PEOPLE with that lie, but GOD won’t buy it!! He knows your heart and mind!
But if you repent (turn away from your sins) and believe (in God’s offer of free grace given through the sacrifice of His sinless Son, Jesus), you WILL avoid this eternal separation from God and you will be on the road to eternity with Him in Heaven.
And, in fact, I can testify that Heaven begins in this life when we are rightly related to our Creator, with our sins forgiven! We can KNOW the One Who created the universe, the seas, the insects, the birds and bears (and everything else). What’s more, when He creates us anew on the inside, WE can be His Handiwork in a way we never were previously.
You think you know Him NOW through His creation, but come to know your Creator in the fullest sense through the Bible!
