“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Psalm 118:8

In a world full of confusion and doubt, who and what can we really trust? God’s Word (the Bible) tells us to not put our full trust in people. “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.” (Psalm 146:3)

The wisdom of men is flawed, corrupt and defiled by sin. “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain. (1 Corinthians 3:18-20)

All knowledge without God is no good. Men and women make mistakes, and with our souls on the line, we cannot rely on anything but 100% truth.  “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” (Hebrews 6:18)

Because it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to lie, we can only rely upon Him and His Word!

But what does God’s Word say about salvation?

First, God’s Word tells us that we are all sinners who have missed the mark of God!

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

Second, because of our sin, we deserve spiritual death which is separation from God and leads to hell.“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

But God’s Word also tells us the only way out of hell and into heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (I Corinthians 15:1-4)

The way to escape hell and get into heaven was already made when Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day, and anyone who believes this automatically receives salvation. “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” (1 John 5:10-11)

So let me urge you, don’t trust people;trust God and His Word. Trust Jesus; He has already paid the price for your sin in FULL!
