Have you ever received God’s GIFT of eternal life?

This is the most important question you will ever be asked. The following four Bible verses will help you answer the question, “Have you ever..?”

Please Read These Four Bible Verses

• Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

• Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

• John 1:12 “But as many as receive Him, to them gave He the power to become a child of God.”

• Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door and knock: if any man hears my voice and opens the door I will come in.”

Now Let Me Explain These Verses

I’d like to explain how these four Bible verses make clear the meaning of God’s GIFT, and help you answer the question, “Have you ever received God’s GIFT of eternal life?”

Some people think if they are good, kind, benevolent, or attend a church that will classify them as a Christian. Whether you attend church regularly or not, you need to be sure of one thing. That is, “Have you ever received God’s GIFT of eternal life?

If you say, “I don’t know.” You need to know. You might even say, “I don’t care.” Someday you will care. We have a loving God. He wants all to have eternal life. However, there is one big obstacle to overcome. Did you know there is a hindrance or barrier between every person and God that keeps them out of heaven? That’s right. It’s SIN.

The first verse presented Romans 3:23 says, “For ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” This word ALL includes the best of people, the most popular, the wealthiest, even you and me, right? This word ALL embraces everyone.

The second verse really has a two part message. Romans 6:23a (The first part) says, “For the wages [penalty] of sin is death...” The Bible refers to different kinds of death. One is physical death, and another is spiritual death. The death referred to in Romans 6:23 is spiritual death or eternal separation from God after physical death. The unredeemed, the spiritually dead sinner will be eternally separated from God at physical death. No one wants that to happen, right? Romans 6:23b (the second part) says, “...The GIFT of God is eternal life.” That’s what you want, isn’t it?

The third verse is John 1:12. “But as many as receive Him, to them gave He power to become a child of God...” You can have this GIFT, but first you must receive it. Do you know how? In order for you to receive any gift what must you do? Reach out and take it, right? For you to become a child of God you must receive (take, invite) Jesus as your Savior. Jesus Christ is the Gift of eternal life. That means He wants to be your Savior today. All you need to do is receive Him by faith, believing that He paid for your sins when He died for you and rose again.

The fourth verse is Revelation 3:20. This verse also has a two part message. What does the first part of the verse say? “Behold I stand at the door and knock…” Who is knocking at your heart’s door right now? You’re right. It is Jesus. Your heart (your innermost being) is like the front door of a house. Jesus is gently knocking. He will not force the door open. He is gently knocking right now. The second part of this verse says, “...if any man hears my voice and opens the door I will come in...” You must open the door and invite Him in. You can have the GIFT of eternal life when you invite Jesus into your heart. You do want eternal life, right? GREAT!

Here is How to Receive God’s Gift

Many people wish to express their request for salvation in a prayer like the following sample prayer. Remember, your request for forgiveness must be sincere and with faith in what Jesus did for us when He died on the cross for our sins and rose again.

“Our Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner. Please forgive me of all my sins. I want to be your child and receive the GIFT of eternal life. Please come into my heart as the GIFT of eternal life and live forever. Thank you! In Jesus name, I pray. Amen!”

Now God Has a Special Promise for You

Here is an important promise from God’s word for everyone who sincerely repents and receives Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. This promise is given in John 16:24, “…ask and ye shall receive.” If you asked earnestly and sincerely, you received God’s GIFT of eternal life. Isn’t that great?

He promised to give the GIFT of eternal life if you ask. Since you asked with sincere repentance, you really did receive Jesus Christ into your heart.

Here are the Next Three Steps

• READ YOUR BIBLE. If you don’t have a Bible please email* us. We will attempt to locate one from a Pastor in your area, and send it to you.

• SEEK COUNSEL from a Bible preaching Pastor about baptism and how to grow as a Christian.

• ATTEND CHURCH REGULARLY. This will help you to learn God’s Word as you enjoy fellowship with other Christians.
