A few years back, in Detroit, Michigan, when gas prices were high nationally, a gas station decided to lower their price, and it was announced on TV. The gas station was going to open at 6:00 a.m., but when I got there at 5:00 a.m., the queue was endless. Why? Because every car owner knows the necessity of having gas in their car, and with a lower price you could fill your tank and have extra money for other things.

Now, there is a higher, priceless invitation to come and eat and drink free, without a queue. This invitation is from the Most High, the Creator of all things, God. The invitation is to all people, both rich and poor. Why are some still not excited about this great invitation? They do not understand the preciousness or the urgency of this invitation. Your answer to this invitation decides where you will spend eternity—either with God in heaven or with Satan in hell. I believe you wouldn’t want to choose hell.

The Bible says in Isaiah 55:1: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.”

When Jesus came into the world, He declared, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51).

Jesus also said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

You may say, “I’m not heavy laden.” Yes, you are! Everyone that is born into this world of mother and father comes as a sinner. The Bible says, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12).

The penalty of sin is death because the Bible declares, “The one who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

Now hear the Good News: “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

How do you get this gift of eternal life?

You must honor God’s invitation and come just as you are.

  1. Recognize that you are a sinner. All have sinned.
  2. Your good works cannot save you. “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).
  3. Confess your sins to God and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. He is the ONLY way to God.
  4. Do it today, because delay is dangerous. Tomorrow, it could be too late!

Come now. The door is open and there is no waiting in line. Come to Jesus!
