Teach Us to Number Our Days

Consider this: You’re here today because of God’s grace. Since birth, you’ve often gone your own way, always straying from God’s path. Have you ever paused to reflect, wondering what if God called you home right now? Where will you find yourself—Heaven or Hell? He holds your life in His hands, as stated in Job 12:10.

You’re likely familiar with John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God desires our life, not death, and He conquered death for us at Calvary.

What Leads Us Away from God?

Sin is the culprit, orchestrated by Satan. Since his fall, he aims to drag as many as possible to hell with him. John 10:10 states, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Jesus offers abundant life, while the devil seeks destruction.

Why Do People Commit Sin?

• Covetousness

• Listening to the devil

• Seeking worldly status

• Engaging in unhealthy competition

• Gratifying the flesh over the spirit

As Jesus said in Matthew 15:19-20, “For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.” Remember, sin leads to death, as Romans 6:23 affirms, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What to Do Now

It’s time to pray in faith and become a new creation. 1 John 1:9 assures, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” In John 3:3, Jesus says, “very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we’re reminded that in Christ, old things pass away, and all things become new.

Talk with God. You can say something like the following prayer of faith:

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for giving me this opportunity to seek Your face. I confess that I am a sinner. I have done many things wrong in Your sight. Please show me Your mercy and forgive all my sins and iniquities. I acknowledge that You died for me at Calvary. Wash me in Your precious blood, and I shall be whiter than snow. Please accept me as Your loving son/daughter, and I shall be with You forever. Thank You, Jesus, for being my Lord and personal Savior. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray, amen.

Food for Thought

Galatians 6:7-8 warns, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
