I have always been amazed at an animal’s sense of direction: most seem to have a “built-in GPS.” These pictures were taken in the Ocala National Forest. While I was unfamiliar with the trails, my horse knew them well. A friend was guiding us to see some of the most scenic points of interest. In doing so, we sometimes would need to backtrack on one trail to get to another. Each time our direction was toward home the horses would pick up pace. But as soon as we would start in a new direction my horse would look at me as if to say, “Are you sure you’re not lost?”

Now What?

How often our lives are like that. Things seem good, we’re on a roll, then out of the blue something totally changes our direction. It may be an illness, the loss of a job, or loss of a loved one that throws us off—now what? Other times we just can’t seem to find the right path to our life’s contentment.

The Perfect GPS!

Did you know that there is a perfect GPS? It is God’s Plan of Salvation. This doesn’t mean acting religious or putting on a perfect front. It means accepting Jesus. While on Earth He taught us to be humble, caring, forgiving, and kind to one another. But we cannot be perfect, and we definitely cannot earn our salvation. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9).

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). He wants to be the way for you. “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37). No one should be lost when the perfect GPS is available to anyone who will accept it.

No matter where you are, you’re only three steps from Heaven’s path!

Confess to God that you are a sinner.

Thank Him for sending His Son Jesus to cover your sins.

Trust Him to be your personal savior so that when you leave this life you will be with Him in Heaven.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5,6
