The Root of Man's Problem
The world is full of problems today, but the biggest problem facing mankind is not a lack of money, being in bad health, or even environmental issues. It is sin! The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). With that being said, what is this thing called “sin”? Sin is anything that is contrary to God’s word. You must be aware of the fact that we are all sinners before a holy and just God. Most people tend to think of sin as just some bad thing that we might do. But the truth of the matter is that those things are only the results of sin. Our sin nature is the root of the problem. If you die without resolving this issue, then your soul will not go to Heaven because Heaven is a pure sinless place. In order to get there, you are going to need a new nature because the one you have now is not good enough!
Sin Has a Penalty
“Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). The penalty for sin is hell. That is the only alternative for the soul who dies in his sins. Hell is a horrible place that was never intended for man. The scriptures say that it was created for the devil and his angels. If you go there, you will be a misfit. Hell is no joke. The only thing that you carry with you into hell is the memories of your life. It is a place of eternal torment which no one can ever leave.
There is a Solution
But God did something for us. “Without shedding of blood is no remission [forgiveness of sins]” (Hebrews 9:22). That means someone had to die on our behalf. “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29) God sent us a saviour to take care of our sin debt. His name is not Buddha, Mohammed, Pope Benedict, L. Ron Hubbard, or any other sinful man. His name is Jesus Christ, THE LORD. He was virgin-born (which means that He did not have a human father), lived a sinless life, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the 3rd day fulfilling the scriptures and proving that He is a living saviour. Thus, Christ is the only one who can save you from hell.
The Invitation is For All
Jesus Christ came to save sinners (not “good” people who are trying to work their way into Heaven). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8,9). Salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned. In order to get this gift, you must turn your heart toward God and put your faith in the shed blood of Christ. When a man receives Christ as his own personal saviour, he receives God’s gift of eternal life and is justified forever.
The biggest problem today is sin. It looks sweet at first, but when it runs its course the end result is always sorrow and death. Nothing lasts forever in this life, but your soul will live forever in one of two places: Heaven or hell. I urge you to think about these things and consider the free gift that the Lord has provided for you. You don’t have to go to hell. Receive Christ and get saved today.
