“So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19).

The last statement that Christ spoke on Friday, the day of His crucifixion, was “It is finished.”

“Jesus ... said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” (John 19:30).

From a human point of view, this statement raises many questions. Why would Jesus say “it is finished” when He was crucified since everyone has not yet been saved? Why would He say “it is finished” when everyone has not yet been spiritually healed? Why would He conclude “it is finished” when we are still not made perfect? Why would He say “it is finished” when everybody on earth has not yet become like Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the only person among all the religious leaders in the history of humanity that declared, “it is finished.”

Jesus did this “…For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14). One sacrifice through His death and the shedding of His blood on the cross of Calvary is the assurance of the blessings of salvation, spiritual healing and perfection for all those He was setting free from sin.

Every religion tells a man to “try harder” to please God. Jesus Christ said—“it is finished.” God will accept you if you come to Him. Everyone who comes to God through Jesus is saved and secured by what He did at Calvary. Therefore, by faith, we declare in agreement with Jesus Christ: “IT IS FINISHED.”

Other religions and ideologies suggest that you do not know what is going to become of you after this life because you cannot be sure you have done enough to be pardoned by God. However, Jesus Christ alone gives the assurance that “He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him” (Hebrews 7:25). Do you know where Jesus Christ is right now? The Bible says the Lord Jesus “was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19).

Jesus Christ is sitting at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Jesus Christ did not sit because He was tired or uncertain. In fact, JESUS IS SITING AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD BECAUSE “IT IS FINISHED.” The work of salvation is done. We cannot fight enough to be saved. We cannot work enough to be saved. We cannot be good enough to be saved. We cannot even pray or give enough to be saved or delivered. Salvation is a gift from God that has been accomplished through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

If you accept Jesus’ offer today, you can receive this gift by faith. He gives peace like no other. Call upon Jesus now and see if it’s true. Just ask Jesus to save you. When Jesus said, “it is finished,” He paid for our sins on the cross and secured a place in heaven for everyone who will believe in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins. Jesus’ death and resurrection gave a purpose and meaning to this life—for those who believe in Him and follow Him.

If you don’t have relationship with Jesus, it is not too late. You can accept Jesus Christ into your life by acknowledging that you are a sinner and by asking Him to forgive your sin. Invite him to become your Lord and Savior right now.

Your religion will not save you—your religion does not even guarantee your salvation. Jesus’ bold statement is worth considering:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Call upon Jesus Christ now and you will be saved.
