“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground’” (Genesis 1:26).

According to Genesis 1:26, God created mankind in His image, meaning with a spiritual component. Why? Because God is a spiritual being. When the Bible states, “Let us make,” we are reminded that God is manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God creates a body made of dust, and then breathes life into man’s nostrils and man becomes a living creature: a living soul with an eternal spirit (Genesis 2:7).

Mankind (male & female) must seek after God with spirit, soul and body in order to fully understand Him.

Bad news: Because the first humans (Adam & Eve) disobeyed God, every human being is born separated from God, with a sinful nature.

Good news: Every human being can become born again through God’s Spirit and start a new relationship with God once again like in the beginning!

How does it work? Simple!    

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved” (Romans 10:9-10).

Salvation plan

God, the Father and Creator of life, reveals to the world a rescue plan for humanity through His Son Jesus and His Holy Spirit. The world finally sees God in three persons: The Divine Trinity!

Furthermore, God has spoken through angels, prophets and apostles like the apostle John, who wrote: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

This much-loved part of the holy scriptures describes God’s salvation plan.

We Must Agree With God

Now, we need to admit to the Almighty God that:

We are sinners, lost and dead in sin

We cannot save ourselves

We need to turn to God and trust Jesus (His Son) to be our Savior, and commit to follow Him as Lord

When we agree with God (repent), and put our trust in Jesus (believe), we are born again spiritually!  

Soul Food

Once we have decided to follow Jesus, we need to be mindful of what we feed our souls. As we know, the world is filled with darkness; planet earth has become the valley of death, literally! Immorality is in full force, leading many astray. Pornography is killing the innocence of our children. The young generation is connected like never before, but suffer anxiety and depression as the result of isolation and lack of true socialization!

With all this in mind, new believers in Christ need to find a good solid church which connects people of God to one another, encouraging them in the ways of the wise. Remember, we live in a dark world where we need to show the light of Christ and to be the salt of the earth in a dying world. 

About The Author

Nelson Samuel emigrated to the USA from El Salvador, Central America at the age of 17. By trade, he is a professional musician, singer and writer. He has been married 29 years to his beautiful wife, Sandra. Nelson Samuel studied in a Catholic seminary where he fell in love with music and became an expert in religion, but despite this training, he never had a true relationship with God.
