“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14

Many times in life, we look for ways to take shortcuts to arrive at the end result. In certain areas of life, this may work at times, but when it comes to the Lord healing our land, there are no shortcuts available. But there is a straight and narrow path, should we choose to follow it.

Our country is at a critical crossroads in history. From the founding of America, over 240 years ago, such a rejection of God’s Word has never before been witnessed. And the only way that we are going to see the Lord God Almighty heal our land is to have His people begin to cry out to the Lord. If His church does not turn back, our country will never survive and never return to having God’s hand of blessing upon us.

“Mission 66…If My People,” is more than just a bike ride from Chicago to Santa Monica, it is a call to believers and followers of Jesus Christ to return to Biblical values. In our culture, Biblical values are sometimes looked upon as “out of style” or “old fashioned.” Over the last few decades, decisions such as the removal of prayer from school, the legalization of abortion and the re-defining of marriage have caused our foundation to severely crack. Our country has been deceived into thinking that these issues don’t correlate with God’s presence and blessing over our land. These are some of the issues (and by no means the only ones) that have caused America to slide down a very slippery slope. And if the slide does not stop now, who knows what is to come next? If we want to see our country healed, we the church must seek the Lord according to 2 Chronicles 7:14.

“If My People...” – God is calling out to His people.

“Who are called by My name” – As Christians, we are called to follow Jesus Christ.

“Will humble themselves” – To be humble in a very proud country goes against the grain.

“And pray and seek My face” – Too many want to seek God’s hand, when He calls us to seek His face.

“And turn from their wicked ways” – We must put an end to wickedness and turn towards His righteousness.

“Then…” – Then, and only then, will He fulfill the rest of this verse.

“I will hear from heaven” – If we want Him to hear us when we pray, we must humbly seek His face and turn from our wicked ways. Until then, we can pray all we want, but He will not hear.

“And will forgive their sin” – Sin is wiped away, forgiven, when His people truly repent and seek Him.

“And heal their land” – What a gift, the healing of our land!

So, may I ask, where are you in all of this? Have you humbled yourself, repented of your sins and turned your face toward the Lord? Have you called upon the name of the Lord? You may be thinking to yourself, “I’m ok,” but really you’re not if you have not found the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. He is God’s gift to us and His blood that was shed for you will wipe away every stain of sin in your life. Most people who refuse Christ are convinced that the way they are following “seems right.”

“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12

There are many that keep following this path that “seems right,” but in the end will lead to eternal separation from God. For one reason or another, they’ve been convinced that many roads lead to heaven and all you have to do is “be a good person” and you’ll make it there someday. If that were true, why did Jesus have to come and give His life for us? Why? Because Romans 3:23 tells us that:

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Guess what, we are all part of the “all.” But here is the Good News:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Jesus put it this way in John 14:6,

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

If you have never trusted in Jesus, pray a similar prayer like this with all your heart:

“Jesus, right now I realize how much I need you. I recognize that I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. I thank you for dying on the cross, shedding your blood, for my sins. I repent (turn away) from my sins, and I turn my heart, my face, my life, towards You. Be my Savior and Lord, come and live inside of me by your Holy Spirit.”

Congratulations! Now it’s time to begin reading the Bible every day and find a good congregation to worship with. If we can help you in these ways, please contact us at:

May we continue to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways so that we will see the Lord forgive our sin and heal our country.
