"Okay, dear, I admit, I put things off too much."

"Yeah..."

"But from now on, life it going to be different."

"Uh-huh..."

"I hereby resolve to get off this couch and do all the things I have been putting off..."

"Okay..."

"...first thing tomorrow."

"Right."

Why do we put things off so much?

Because the job's too hard...

"I think I'll wait until tomorrow."

There is a fear of failure...

"What if I lose?"

Or there is a fear of success..."

"What if I win?"

The job's not something we want to do.

"Oh yeah, like I've always wanted to learn about these things."

What happens when we do put things off?

The job almost always gets harder...

"I should have done this yesterday."

Golden opportunities are lost...

"I suppose it's too late to ask her out for a date now, isn't it?"

There is usually a penalty for tardiness...

"Oops! I guess I should have mailed that mortgage payment."

And, the end results are almost guaranteed to be less than perfect.

"Happy belated birthday, honey."

"A Twinkie with a candle in it. How nice."

"It is not good to procrastinate!"

That's right! And God doesn't want us to put Him off, either.

"Huh?"

The Bible says...

"Now is the time of God's favor, now is the time of salvation." (2 Corinthians 6:2)

"I never thought much about God before."

Many people don't. As long as they can handle life on their own, without Him now, they naturally put off thinking about their need for God in the future ... especially their eternal future.

"My eternal future?"

That's right. The Bible says...

"Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." (Hebrews 9:27)

"Judgment? Judgment for what?"

The Bible also says...

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

"I don't want to think about it now."

Trouble is, there won't be any time to think about it when God's judgment arrives. That's why God didn't put off sending His Son (Jesus Christ) to die for your sins and suffer your judgment Himself. Then after He died Jesus rose from the grave to prove He has the power to forgive and give you eternal life.

"Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people." (Hebrews 9:28)

All God asks you to do — all you can do — is confess your sinfulness to Him and trust in Jesus as God's payment for your sin.

"Trust Jesus?"

"Whoever believes in the Son [Jesus] has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36)

"Hmmm ... maybe I've been putting this off too long."

Now the decision is yours. Place your trust in Jesus now and you will enjoy eternal life with God forever. Don't put it off, you don't know what tomorrow will bring.

"Today, if you hear his (God's) voice, do not harden your hearts." (Hebrews 4:7)

"Lord Jesus, I can't wait any longer. I place my trust in you to be my Savior. Thank you for giving me eternal life. Amen."
